I went vegan for a couple of days the beginning of the week and made myself sick. I have stage III kidney disease and apparently I've been keeping my potassium and phosphorus at ok levels without really trying. So I didn't really realize how little extra potassium it would take to overload my kidneys. Two days of fried cabbage, steamed veggies, and salad were just too much. Wednesday was a bad day, nausea all day, no appetite, no energy, achy muscles, and my heart racing at very little exertion. Thursday started out bad but got better as the day went on. Today wasn't very bad. My walk took me longer that usual and I was struggling more than a little the last bit of it, but my appetite's back, my heart's pretty much settled down, and my muscles are just a bit tired, not achy, thank heavens. All this means I haven't had to deal with cravings for most of the week. In fact, I lost 2 pounds! Which is saying something since I haven't been able to lose so much as an ounce in the past eight months. I did, however, give in to a SMore craving this evening, but it didn't put me over my calories.
