Please, I really need an answer to this question.

As you know I had a TKR March the 8th 2013 and am preparing for the next one soon.

Well my foot on the unoperated leg is swollen. It is puffy on top like those puffs we put on those quilts. My shoe is difficult to put on and my foot was bruised although the bruise is going down.

Have you ever had one foot double the size of the other one? I take diuretics and have for years but this is extreme.

Please don't tell me to buy sandals or other kind of shoes as this is the only kind of shoe I can wear. It is deep as I also have a high arch and also wear a double wide.

I know salt causes swelling and no longer go to Chinese places because of the MSG.

I agree with all the others--go to ER/Care One/Walk-in clinic--just go and get medical attention ASAP. I have not had that problem but I do know something is going on. Praying for you too. ((HUGS))

Irene, my left leg and foot swell (not my right foot and leg) but only because of the trauma of the knee break and the surgery to replace my torn artery with a vein. I could not wear a shoe on that side at first but of course I was not supposed to put any pressure on that leg anyway so I went 3 1/2 weeks with only one shoe on.
Now for your foot that is larger on your UN-operated side, how did you get the bruise? did you twist your ankle or something? I would call your general (not the knee surgeon) Dr.s office and ask to talk with the nurse. Explain what's going on and ask her if you should see the Dr. Let us know what happens.

I've never had swelling as much, but I am trying to wearn myself off take-out, as the salt is too much for my body to handle. Becca

I know I am way behind with an answer to this, but if you haven't go get it checked out.
I have never had it but I know people who have. It could be caused by many different things.

Did you call the Nurse? I would have it checked too, if you haven't been to the Dr. I would put it up High on a Wall and let drain for 15/20 min, it will help, but do call

My Mom had a Bakers cyst to rupture in her knee not long before her last TKR and what she experienced was the same as what you are describing. If you haven't went to the doctor or ER, please do ASAP.

If you choose not to seek medical attention, what I would do is drink a lot of water to flush your system out a bit, elevate it tonite while in bed ( I have one of those leg wedges from a medical catalog ) and stay barefoot for a day.

I am like a puffer fish myself, my feet, ankles and fingers are always puffy. Partially due to weight, partially due to my loving salt and partially due to the heat, which expands everything.

emoticon Good grief, woman, if that's the case, DON'T PUT THE SHOE ON!

Do you have a surgical walking boot that you can wear? If not, wear JUST a stretchy sock and GO TO URGENT CARE! emoticon emoticon

If that is your driving foot, call a friend or cab, BUT GO, DON'T DELAY! emoticon emoticon

How did you get the bruise on the foot? Is that why it's swollen?

I would go to Urgent care and get it checked out!

I would seek medical attention very promptly !!! It could be an indicator of a more serious problem. My Mother's feet swelled like that and she had developed AFIB which is a heart condition.
