A friend of my is using a different fittness application. I told her about SP and she is going to try it. This other program allows the dieter to add food on a daily basis depending on how much they work out, which is an odd concept. If that were the case for me I would never loose and I would be knocking myself out to workout to eat lots of extra food. The idea for dieting is to lower our intake, so we can develop better lifestyle habits not be gluttons. SP does adjust our calorie limit based on how much we workout and our metabolism.

Another issue that surprised me, she is counting her calories in advance of eating and limiting what she u eats. I eat and then track my consumption. i would really feel deprived if I had to cluster my food, count the calories and then eat. I usually track my calories at intervals, just in case I am going over and eat almonds or something to bring up the nutritional values were they need to be..

I am sticking with what I know works for me. The other program allows too much flexibility to be safe and effective. It sounds my own program I was using before SP which is to estimate total food consumption and then the calorie expenditure and adjust the eattng accordingly which is like getting the cart before the horse. I am glad SP does all the research for us and it does work!

    I hope SP works for your friend. I agree that sounds to complicated for me I would never lose weight.

  I do plan my meals - the trick is actually eating what I planned. Either way, i think whatever works for someone and is healthy is a fine choice.

    I think I just need a cook and a nutritionist!!!!! LOL!!! But seriously that would be just wonderful.......

I am getting back in the habit of using my tracker, because I know it works and it helps. I agree too that sometimes, it's nice to use the built in planner, but very often I don't have most of the stuff on the list....and that means more shopping... i also do like tracking my own at various stages of the day, because you can know where you stand and how much room you have for later in the day.

Oh well, if it was easy, i guess we'd all be slim and trim......

    All of my extended family uses fitnesspal too. I haven't tried it b/c SP is the one that works for me! I do, however, often times track before I eat. Preplanning helps me to keep things in perspective instead of getting to the end of the day with an unpleasant surprise. Whatever WORKS for us is BEST, I agree!

    Exactly! Stick with what works for you. I can plan my
meals when I eat at home but sometimes, that isn't an
option. I prefer tracking after I eat, keeping in mind
what else I have eaten for the day.

    Is it My Fitness Pal? I was using that App and was finding that it kept telling me to eat more - WAY MORE than I could even eat!!! I dumped that program and am very happy using just SP for both food tracking and exercise tracking! emoticon

  Don't get the concept of eating being dependent on how much (or little) you work out. Just can't wrap my mind around it. I'll stick with SP.
