2nd 3 months going to be tougher

Friday, June 28, 2013

First of all the heat. Our heat index can go all the way up to 125 this Summer. It just started Summer and it's already slated to be 117 this Sunday.

Anyway it's messing with my work out. My legs felt heavy (maybe because I switched my canvas shoes with Athletic ones) I did have an insert in the canvas, and didn't get blisters. When I first started out with exercise I wore the athletic shoes and got blisters, I also lost
weight this past 3 months, so trying the athletics again, but they felt like weights on my feets!
I was barely making it through, but I managed. So will start getting used to them now. I need
more support than what inserts were able to give me, with my canvas, and there was no
support on sides. I am going to start the 5 mile walk with Leslie, way more intense. But need
to get my gloves, so I may start. It will probably be ok to go another week with the 3 miles.

Now my "NUTRITION" guidelines. I never had trouble with fats before? Now all of a sudden
increased calories and I still manage to go over in fats. I try to work with it, but I have to cut
avocados out almost completely. I don't think 1/2 of an avocado does the trick when your eating a large salad. And walnuts? How come these little nutmeats are so fatty? Seems like even cashews are not as fatty as the wal's. I can only have max fat 60 according
to my nutrition guidelines, what's up with that?? All of a sudden I have problems? Well I adjust and work with it, but it's becoming hard to do.

I wanted to not eat eggs, but since I cut back on meat. I need to get protein somewhere. I can only have 3 eggs a week, I already managed to eat 4. Aaaargh.

I know, I would probably do much better, if I increased my calories I actually have more trouble getting in the calories with the fats problem, but I cannot increase the fat.

Kind of wondering how this 3 months will fare, with all these problems. Anyway I will trudge along.

I dont mind the fats - they give your body slow steady energy throughout the day and help train your body to burn fat. I would rather get the fat from an avocado than a cheesburger!

Anyhoo, follow your intution and see if the change brings the response you want. This is your body, your experiment and the chance to bring healthy habits to your life.

You will figure it ou!

I also have the problem of going over on my fats. i try to eat a small amount of avocado and nuts every day. i seem to have a lot less cravings when i do this. Now I do not worry so much about going over on the fats, as long as they are healthy fats and I stay in my calorie range. This along with adding more protein has really helped me to close in on my goals. Every one is different, and I am very active but I would never give up those healthy fats or decrease my protein.

Good Luck and Much Success!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Keep Sparking! emoticon

So are you eating walnuts and the avocado at the same time? maybe just eat one or the other.

Remember you can get all the protein you need in fruits and veggies.

For me the problem with eggs is the cholesterol. When I have them I always go over. I love eggs, and they're so fast to cook, plus, like you I've cut back on meat and have to get protein somewhere-- I'm often a little under on my protein. Sigh. Stay cool. That kind of heat can sneak up on you fast. Have a good weekend.

Actually, my sister says she needs to cut back in fats; nuts, avocado.
She stopped losing entirely...
Of course I have a lot more to lose, so maybe that's why I can do it?

Also, probably because of my weight, I need shoes with good support (I love Nike Air!) otherwise my back gets tired fast!

I'm not sure why you're trying to limit your good fats? avocados are fine. I suppose it depends on WHOSE nutrition guidelines you're following. If you're using SP, they're still in line with the SAD, which is (still) not optimal according to most restricted carb, primal, and diabetic recommendations.

I have a difficult time with protein, especially from meats. Three eggs?! heck, I eat four for breakfast every morning. With coconut oil. And butter!

I've hit a stall, and I'm kicking around the idea of trying Atkins' Fat Fast, which requires only around 1000-1200 calories per day, of which 80% are fats! I just don't know if I can eat that much fat. urk And I love bacon! I suppose we'll see.

Good luck to you in finding your own special path.

MJ, take it easy on the exercise. Sudden increases in exercises can bring injuries. More is not always better.

Thanks to you, I'm getting ready to order the Yonanas. I want to experiment with my fruits.

I always had a hard time staying within all the ranges. We need some fat, so if I cut the good fats out then what else am I missing? I understand cutting out fat through candy bars and chips though. As with everything, it's a guideline.

I hope your shoes work out for you. I ended up trying on some "barefoot" shoes and they worked best for my feet, anything with padding hurt my feet, I can stand being in shoes longer when I'm "barefoot".

I hope the heat breaks for you soon! It's been hot here too, but not that hot, but we get the humidity like there's no upper limit to it. 80* with near that humidity is just too hot, glad there's been wind.
