The following message was shared at one of our Senior's Luncheons I was asked to bring...
A Thankful Heart
Key Verse: Psalm 100:4 NIV translation
Enter His gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
Question to Consider:
Do I have an attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving? Does thankfulness have a place in my heart & life? What can I, you, we all thank God for today?
I Can Thank God for…
1. His Goodness: Psalm 31:19 (NIV)
THE DELIGHT IN KNOWING OUR GOD far outweighs anything this world could offer…We could have all the riches in this world, but it doesn’t compare nor come close to knowing the “goodness” of God’s Love in our lives…
How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.
2. His Presence: Psalm 95:1-6 (KJV)
The awesomeness of God’s Presence: to come before Him in Worship with a humble heart of gratitude, thankfulness, making a joyful noise to our God….acknowledging that His Presence is everywhere, He is the One who spoke the galaxies into existence, He spoke and the earth, the sea, the dry land, the birds in the air, trees, were formed. WOW, the awesomeness of God… The Hebrew Word for Worship is literally translated to prostrate oneself before God, to literally get down on our faces before God, worshipping and praising His name, thanking our God for His presence.
"O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.
The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.
O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker."
3. His Mercy: Psalm 100 (KJV)
His faithfulness to His People, His children, we are a child of God and it is His faithfulness we can experience every day, it is good to thank God for His faithfulness, Our God is Able… God’s Mercy who gave us Jesus, who nailed our sins to Calvary’s Tree… Where would we be without His Mercy…? His Mercy is everlasting, it’s eternal…
"Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations."
4. His Love: Psalm 107:1 (NIV)
His love endures forever, God’s Love and mercy are forever…
No matter what, no matter what trial, circumstance we can depend upon our God’s Love and mercy, they are everlasting, they are eternal… God’s love is pure, complete and His love is always available, He is always willing and able to restore those who call upon His name, His Love is steadfast, unmoveable…unchangeable…PTL…
"Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever."
5. His Abundant Goodness & Righteousness of God Psalm 145:7 (NIV)
We can celebrate His goodness, remembering all the awesome things He has done for us, how He provided for us, lifted us out of the fiery trial, took us by the hand and walked us thru the storms of our lives, and we can surely Praise God that it is His righteousness that clothes us, our righteousness is as filthy rags but God’s righteousness washes us clean, and makes us vessels that can be used for God’s Glory…
They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.
Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
6. His Greatness
1 Chronicles 29:11-13 (KJV)
"Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.
Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.
Now, our God, we give you thanks,
and praise your glorious name."
