Well, late yesterday afternoon, I heard from our Interventional Radiology Scheduler. I am scheduled for Tuesday, July2nd for the insertion of a PORT for access to my venous system for meds and blood draws. I've been on steroids all my life for asthma and they have destroyed the integrity of my veins. I am so tired of getting poked for blood and IVs anywhere from 5 to >20 times. If they get an IV started, it one day it usually "blows" (infiltrates) and then they have to try to start another one. I am praying that this port will solve that issue. It's so hard when you can't breath and they cannot get an IV in to give you the meds you need emoticon

On Wednesday, I will have my consult for the Vertebroplasty. I'm kind of anxious about this, but I hope it will take away the pain and allow me to regain my mobility. Being a nurse, I'm aware of all the benefits and risks, yet sometimes knowing this stuff makes it scarier emoticon

At least I now have a plan in action and will pray to achieve and maintain a positive outlook!!

Thank you for all your well-wishes and prayers emoticon

I just have to leave you with a few inspirational thoughts:

I watched them put a port in Tom's upper arm and route it over to just above his heart when he was hospitalized. (His wasn't implanted) It was quite interesting. It definitely saved on trouble putting IV's in. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I'm so glad you have dates for when things are going to progress. Oh my gosh, I have such compassion for what you are going through with all that poking and prodding. A good friend of mine had a port for years and it made her treatments so much easier on her. emoticon
