I need Ideas - looking for a good HRM

Friday, June 28, 2013

I need help. I am wanting a good HRM for different types of activities, but I don't want to have to get two monitors.

Any ideas on what to get?

I am wanting something to track my calories when I do Zumba (dancing), but I am also wanting to start running. So, I would need to something that would tell me my HR, distance, pace, etc. Something that I can train with.

Does anyone know of a good HRM that would do both of those? Or do I have to get 2 different HRM??

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

I have a Polar FT4 that I got from amazon and LOVE IT! I've had it now for 2 years. It's a great motivator to see how many calories I burned and then see if I can push myself a little further next time. It has a chest strap, which tracks your actual heart rate, and then based on your age and sex, the watch will tell you how many calories you burn. It's probably the closest to an accurate burn that you can get.

No, sorry. I have no experience with a heart rate monitor. Maybe you could check with your doctor or a hospital for a recommendation.

    I have this one

Got it off Amazon and saved $35. I LOVE IT! I had one before it without a chest band but I had to push on the screen so it'd read and it took like 20 seconds which when I'm running or doing a BeachBody DVD I don't have the time or balance to hold my wrist in one place with both arms. This one is great, it beeps if I get under or over my range, it tells me calories burned, time, etc. The one I have is supposedly waterproof too but I have not tested that.

I do not think my tells distance but I could be wrong. I use an app on my phone for that.

I'm in a TurboFire challenge group and most of the women in it have the same one as me and we all love it and recommend it to others.

I don't have any experience but I've heard Garmin is good. I think they are mostly for runners but they might make an all-purpose kind. Not sure.

Read reviews online of the specific ones you are considering.

I don't really like the ones that track everything--sleep, etc. I tried that for a while and didn't like it. Gave it to my dad. He doesn't use it. Ha emoticon

Hope you find one you like!
