Lunch Money

Friday, June 28, 2013

Nearly every day I go to work, I pack a lunch. I am frugal and don't like to spend extra money. I also have a dietary restriction (gluten-free) that does not allow me to eat anything I want. That's often a good thing. emoticon

Since I got home from vacation on a Wednesday afternoon, I didn't bother to make lunch for Thursday or Friday. I work across the street from a Whole Foods, which has a lot of gluten-free options, but at a high cost! Yesterday I got tacos ($5) and a smoothie ($6.50). Today I brought some leftover GF pizza from last night's dinner and went to WF for a salad. I spent $5.94 on a small salad filled with yummy, healthful food (chickpeas, feta, beets, tomatoes).

Although this salad is definitely delicious -- as were yesterday's foods -- there is no way I can justify spending that much on lunch! These past 2 days has really helped me to appreciate the meals I make for lunch.

I love Whole Foods but danggit you have to take out a second mortgage to afford that place regularly! I know they are getting a lot of their items from locally sourced vendors and family farms and that is great but geesh! I definitely dont eat their as often as I would like to.
