Uncomplementary photo

Friday, June 28, 2013

Something happens when you see an uncomplimentary photo of yourself. If it's on my digital camera, I immediately consider removal. Here is a shot of me when I was just 2. I was drinking from a bottle, and look like I was having a great time. Even though I don't like the photo, I love the baby years of my life, and the old photos that remind me of simpler days.

Today I've learned to appreciate the good in a photo, and not to remove it because I don't look like the "perfect person" that I want to be.
I can just be me~totally imperfect, but happy!

And I think you look really cute; really mastering how to drink from what looks like a soda bottle. And what you think is an unflattering picture may be very meaningful to your children and grandchildren.

I thought it was a cute picture! You are right, though - you can only be happy if you can live with your imperfections.

Old photos ARE valuable! You see as you look back over the photos of the past, that maybe you don't look as bad as you thought you did at the time!

How precious to have a photo of yourself at 2 years old! emoticon

I think you look adorable. Smart to keep it, as it must conger up great memories of your life as a child with your family.

It's cute and shows you as you really were.
Be glad to have the old photos. I lost all mine in a move and was devastated. Some of the family has scrounged around and found more, but many will never be seen, lost forever. Back when i was a child, money was tight , picture didn't get taken as often as today.
When I was obese I never let anyone take a picture , one got taken unknown to me. Now since I have lost 200 lbs I only have that one photo to show how I looked and what a difference in my present look.
Sometimes even in the best of days, looking fantastic, people can take unflattering shots. Those are the ones I hate.
Thanks for a glimpse into your past.

Those pictures, even if we don't really like ourselves in them, are precious memories to us and also to pass to our kids and grandkids. I wish I had more of my mother after she passed away, and it really made me realize someday my kids, grandkids, etc will want the ones I'm tempted to toss.

What a precious picture and reminder of simpler days indeed. When I was in the mode of "delete" with pictures I didn't find flattering my daughter reminded me that this is HER legacy, too (the pictures) to remember when she was growing up . That ended the deleting immediately!

Hugs and smiles.

I tossed most of my fat photos when I lost weight. That was back in the days when a photo and negative were easily destroyed. Now I wish I hadn't done that. I may have been fat but I was young. Photos are irreplaceable.

I think it is cute. And didn't we all have that same haircut. Bangs and cut straight all the way around. I have some really frightening photos when I was a kid. I had super straight hair but my mom used to get on these kicks where she thought I need curls so she would give me a Lilt Home Perm. No curls..just looked like I stuck my finger in a light socket. Talk about unflattering photos!! I have more than my share!! And she was persistant that I would get curls from one of those perms and I kept looking like I was electrified!!! LOL!!

Those were the days!!!

Thanks for the walk down memory lane!!!

I hear ya - and know what you're talking about - both the former embarrassment and the present comfort with self. I guess it just takes us a long time to grow up.

But what a cute family.

Perhaps the most natural one in the photo. I don't think it is uncomplimentary at all.
