Abandoning spark...not yet!

Friday, June 28, 2013

As I said I found this swedish health page and after thinking for 24 hours (a looong time for me) I decided to give it a year - that means I did not only go for the free version but paid for the next step - it is 39 a month for the first year...(5.74 USD) They do have groups where you are "private" inside groups, they also have the blog opportunity but you canīt decorate your blog as nice as on Spark. I have come to the conclusion that I am a very visual person so that counts.

Anyway, found a group with an average age of 60, about ten persons, and they seem to have experience and thoughts enough to keep me interested.

Spark is a sort of sanctuary to me - I live with the illusion that nobody will find me here...I have not connected spark to my facebook account and so far I have never experienced any comments that indicates that someone that knows me in real life has found me here... I should not trust that too much but until I get any sign of something else I will continue to be as open here as I could not be in a surrounding where coworkers, friends and family might read... that swedish spark will give shelter as the group I joined is closed, only assigned members can read.

Anyway - that group saved me from overeating yeasterday - as a beginner I want to be "good" and show success. That will pass but I hope it will last as many kilos as possible...

This morning started with bright sun and know thunder clouds are filling the horizon - I want to do a bike ride, better hurry up before the rain comes!

I've liked sparkpeople from facebook. I'm not sure if that connects them. I think it would depend on selecting to share certain things on facebook on a item by item basis. I don't do a lot on facebook, I guess I should take a peek now and then.

I got a shock when I read the beginning of your title 'abandoning sp'! Don't scare me like that! ;)

I don't connect my FB and SP, either! This is a 'safe' place.

I understand; I went through and deleted blogs and pictures (even though I don't think they are ever truly deleted) when a couple of extended family members joined. Turns out they are not very interested. Still I am more careful about the content of my page and gallery now. I hope the added support helps Cecelia.

emoticon Any time you can find Acceptance, Encouragement, and Accountability it is a good thing. I know several people who use Spark in addition to other Websites. I really don't see a problem with it -- Until or Unless it starts cutting in to your Exercise Time or your "Real Life"

It might be just the 'spark' that you're looking to keep on your journey and to lose the remaining kilos. And you seem to be serious about it as you committed to this website as a paid member for one year.
I like being 'incognito' on this forum; I wouldn't have posted my blogs on an in-country forum.

Best of luck with this Swedish group!

Good to have sanctuary and places of encouragement. Glad you have found another place for you to be "real" and be accepted.

It's good to step outside your comfort zone from time to time. Glad you're not leaving us though :)

Hmmm... just occurred to me, instead of having the international community within SP, what if each country had a "Spark" of its own? Sounds like could be quite a marketing opportunity there...
