It's hard to describe what SparkPeople has done for me in the short time I've been here (3 months). There's been no dramatic transformation (yet). I've only lost 4 lbs. I still find it near impossible to stay in my calorie range more than once a week. But I am learning hands-on which foods I need to eat. I've always said that I know what to eat, I just can't figure out how to make myself do it. Now I know: pay attention every single day, don't hide your overeating from yourself.
So my late-night overeating bingey sessions have diminished. My exercise has vastly improved. My self-confidence is growing. And thanks to the examples set by everyone I encounter here, I have developed this strange new ability to speak more openly about my issues -- for example, to admit that yes I do tend to go along with what everyone else wants, rather than stick up for what I need. And yes it's usually OK to tell people what you need.
SparkPeople might be finally forcing me to care about myself! This is so weird...
