Back in the pool and a question of weight

Thursday, June 27, 2013

I haven't had arm pain in about 24 hours and no discomfort either, so I decided to try jumping in the pool today. I picked a swim set that wasn't as hard as a straight mile, out of paranoia. Sadly, I only made it halfway across the pool before feeling pain, so I spent the remainder of the 35 minutes using the kickboard and waterwalking. Oh man, it was soooo boring!! A decent workout, though. My legs were tired when i got out and I could feel the afterswim exhaustion on my body, so that's good. I'm just sad I still can't swim.

In the past, I have used my wii fit as my scale. I like how it keeps track and a couple other options. Since moving to Colorado, I hadn't set up my Wii, though. So, I've been using a scale that my boyfriend bought when he moved out here.

One of my three cats has a bit of a weight problem, so I have been monitoring her weight, trying to get her lose while not affecting the other 2 who are normal weight. My boyfriend started weighing all the cats to check on their progress, and all three apparently gained like A POUND each in 2 weeks, which is crazy. However, my bf noticed that his weight was fluctuated quite a bit in between cat weighs. It said he gained a whole pound in like 5 minutes haha. So, we decided to change the batteries in it, but that didn't seem to affect it much. We got out the Wii and weighed everyone in.... and the Wii is weighing us lower than the scale!

So, we did a weight test by using 2 30 pounds dumbells. The scale was +0.6 lbs while the wii was dead on. So.. I lost a pound magically today (=

Lastly, I usually weigh in once a week on Saturday morning, but I decided to do it daily this week, out of curiosity. I have lost weight every day this week which is super cool, except that I know that scale is all wonky.... After Saturday I will be going back to weekly weigh-ins. It is kinda nice seeing the number go down every day though!

I also tried on a bunch of clothes in my "almost fits" box, and a good portion of them fit me again, so yay. It's really good since I was running low on pants, which is a funny story. I have 2 pairs of jeans that are pretty big on me, they fall off when I am carrying something and can't stop to pull them up. I only had 1 other pair of pants that fit me comfortably. The other week when I had them on, I was noticing a "draft" on my posterior, but I ignored it (bad idea btw) while I was at the hair salon. I went to the grocery store with my bf a couple hours later, and I noticed said draft again. Turns out there was a like foot long HOLE in the back of my pants from my butt down my leg! Luckily, I had a hoodie on and tied it around my waist, 90s style, to cover it. But yeah, I walking around all day with a big hole showing my underweaer!

With the scale, you have to make sure you stand in the same place. I know on mine at home, if I stand near the back I will weigh more than if I am centered on it. Obviously you need to subtract .6 lbs when you weigh for the scale. Keep up the good work.

Haha -- omg, sorry I'm just imagining a giant rip in your pants and you enjoying the breeze. The arm thing sucks. Hopefully that gets in gear with your swimming plan.

Woooo hoooo! Even when the scale doesn't say much, the clothing that fits (or doesn't!) doesn't lie!!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!!

Congrats on losing the "magic" pound! Hey, anyway you can! I like that you tried weighing in every day and saw a loss every day but I am glad to hear that you are going back to once a week because you won't see a loss every day forever and that can be mentally taxing when you don't. Yay for 90's style hoodie around the waist lol!

i had a cat with a weight problem, which meant i could not leave food out but had to feed them twice a day. they did not like that. they got used to it, but they didn't like it at all.
