Two years

Thursday, June 27, 2013

My anniversary was on Tuesday and it was such a lovely day. Well, the company was lovely. The weather was rainy and muggy. But we did get to eat sushi, and see a movie at the drive-in. And yes, I probably ate too much of the wrong things, I can admit it. But it was worth it to just enjoy the day and each other without worrying about tracking food. We went to the mall (to exchange some of the things I got, haha [because my husband said he wouldn't mind]) and watched a movie at home. We tried to visit the historic district in Long Grove while we waited for traffic to die down. They have a cute confectionery we've always wanted to visit, but it was closed. The drive-in was probably the highlight of the day, though. The movie didn't finish until probably 1:30 because the first film started late, so when we got home we were tiiiiiired.

Of course, the real highlight is just that we made it to two years. We know we married really young, especially for this day and age. Most people wait until their late twenties and thirties. Joey was still 19 when we got married. So sometimes I just like to acknowledge how rare we are, and thank God we made it despite all the difficulties we encounter. My marriage isn't perfect, my husband isn't perfect, I am not perfect, but we love each other, and we are committed to growing together.

Ahem. Anyways.

In other news, walking around a mall is also a great way to get your exercise. I had a friend in middle school whose mother did just that, and lost a lot of weight. Although, she walked around the whole mall twice, and she did it every single day. That might be great for some people (like extroverts, maybe?) but definitely not for me. Too many people around. But! it's a good idea. And when I'm there with my hubby it's not so bad.

I should also tell you all that my banana bread tastes fantastic! I probably should have chopped up the walnuts a little smaller, but it WAS the middle of the night. For some reason I thought the chopping would wake up my husband--but of course, it wouldn't, because nothing wakes him up.

And as a final note... no, I'm not pregnant. But I will be! I swear. Hopefully someday soon, I will be. :)

Marriage is hard work, even when you really love each other! I consider it a small miracle that ANY two people can live together in a state of semi-harmony. Congratulations on your 2-year anniversary and best wishes for many, many more happy years together!
