I'm still getting used to adding some sweet things back into my diet since the Paleo experiment. I've had one diet pop in the last month and it was TOO SWEET!! I had some of Princess's birthday cake frosting, and it was too sweet as well, although that didn't surprise me - I've never been a fan of frosting. I have gone back to my after-run soy chocolate milk in the mornings, and the chocolate doesn't seem to bother me much. But I've been having trouble tweaking my favorite choco-yogurt for some reason.
Pre-Paleo, I would use a full packet of Splenda with 2 TB cocoa powder in 6 oz. of Chobani non-fat vanilla Greek yogurt. Since re-adding dairy to my diet and giving up artificial sweetners, I've experimented with stevia powder and agave syrup. I didn't like the taste of the stevia, so I've mainly used the agave. I keep lowering the amount of agave I add, and yesterday, I actually measured out just a 1/4 tsp., but it was still too sweet! That really surprised me. I think that the sweetness of the vanilla yogurt may just be enough to satisfy my palate without adding anything extra. I think I'll give that a try tomorrow and see how it does. Even though I had read about how using no added sugar for a while helped some folks re-set their sugar tolerance levels, it has still been an eye-opener to experience it myself!
