When I was younger I barely wore any-
maybe a tiny bit of blush-
although I pretty much stopped that after my little sister died unexpectedly many years ago (2 of them, in fact) and I found myself weeping often and in random places when I thought of her.
I have always used moisturizer (cheap stuff) and sunscreen (although I am a lifelong sun worshiper/beach girl) and got many compliments on my nice skin (thnx, Mom!).
Not sure when make-up became more important to me.
Now I feel naked without it.
I wear it every single day-
would not leave the house without it.
I mean, it's usually what I would call minimal make-up-
takes me 5 minutes, tops,
but I use:
foundation (very lightly- mixed with moisturizer),
concealer (I'm 61 now and have a few dark spots),
sometimes eye shadow (I wear glasses so it doesn't really show),
powder on top-
and now I've added an eyebrow pencil to my routine-
my sis enlightened me that a darker fuller brow is more youthful (our brows are thinning and fading away) and she was right!
I curl my eyelashes but rarely use mascara,
because the eyedrops I use daily for my glaucoma makes my eyelashes long and thick-
I have to trim them with scissors so they don't hit my glasses!
Sounds like a benefit, but, unfortunately, the drops also permanently darkened my pretty green eyes to dark brown, a forewarned side effect.
So now I even have to wear makeup to the gym!
My only hope is that nobody notices as I have always looked down on fully made-up and coiffed women at the gym.
So, how about you all?
Do you wear makeup every day?
When I am down at my second home in the Caribbean
I only wear eyeliner and blush because anything else just slides off- and I keep a compact handy whenever we go out to keep the shine down a bit.
