My new favorite food

Thursday, June 27, 2013

On Saturday I bought Greek yogurt for the first time (Fage Total 0% to be exact). I've always like the fruity yogurts, but I have never been a big fan of plain yogurt - that is until now!
Lately the break room at work has had lots of fresh fruits (rather than junk food, which is a great change!) so I brought in the Greek yogurt and have eaten it with blueberries, cherries, and plums - they were all delicious! emoticon This morning the only fruit left was a melon fruit salad - watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew - all of which I absolutely abhor! emoticon
I decided to be daring - emoticon I took some of the melon salad and mixed it into the yogurt. Surprisingly enough, I actually enjoyed the melon this way!
emoticon for Greek yogurt!

I just realized that it has been more than 5 months since my last post... hopefully it won't take me another 5 before the next! emoticon

Great job on finding a yogurt you like. The first time I tried Greek, I did not like it. Texture I think. Yes, I'm one of those. But after my gall bladder surgery my DH hunted down a fat free milk product free yogurt in order to get me past the antibios I was filled with. I don't think I had a living bacteria cell alive inside of me so I needed the yogurt for that. Through his search he found Danon Fit and Light Greek Yogurt in vanilla. I didn't think I was going to like it, but it sure is good. So I can eat that by the 1/2 cup allowance for now and I am. I guess it would be my newest favorite food, too.

So congrats on your new favorite food and enjoy! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sounds yummy!! I love using plain yogurt with fruits, or sweetening it with a bit of Splenda and mixing in some cocoa powder....mmmm. And if you stick in the freezer and just remember to take it out and scrape the sides of the container periodically, you can have yourself some healthy frozen yogurt! LOVE yogurt!

Maybe I should try that brand. I've tried a few other kinds and just can't quite get used to it. Not sure if it's just that it's so rich, or that the consistency is not what my brain expects, but I haven't found a type that I can actually eat more than 2 spoonfuls of.

In my humble, personal opinion, Fage is the BEST Greek yogurt. emoticon

I love Greek yogurt, especially Chobani. I'm not sure I've ever tried Fage.

I use it all the time. It's a great substitute for mayo in almost any recipe.
Try making tuna or egg salad with it.
Or - my latenight sack - add fruit & cocoa powder.

emoticon You have been missed!! I love cinnamon and nutmeg in the Greek yogurt when I'm dipping or stirring in fresh fruit.

Also, cocoa powder, but I need a little sweetener with that. Delicious with strawberries!!

You can sweeten with a bit of frozen banana. Yumm.
