Well, I'm pregnant!

I still can hardly believe it- I'm pregnant! This is just nuts!

The hubs and I started trying in March and were pregnant by the end of the month. I am now past my first trimester and we heard the heartbeat last week so it is finally starting to feel real!

I haven't had too much nausea- just a little bit in the first few weeks. I was eating really healthy before week 10ish because greasy, fatty foods made me feel terrible. And my stomach was small somehow- I wasn't able to eat more than a small amount at a time. My doctor said that was a good thing and that it meant I was really listening to my body because pregnant women should eat small frequent meals throughout the day. (Which I found funny because that is also the advice you get when you are trying to eat healthy)

But then I just got lazy and went back to eating huge meals where I am stuffed after them. And they aren't the healthiest. At all. I have been doing good on fruit intake, but veggies? Not at all. The little bit of veggies I tried to eat made me super gassy and so I stopped that. I know I need to incorporate them more but I was so tired during the first trimester that I did hardly any cooking at all. Lots of eating out.

Now that I am in my second trimester I finally am starting to feel more energy and more positivity. So I am going to have to really try hard to follow a good balanced plate method at meals from now on.

I also haven't exercised barely at all. I have walked the stairs at my office maybe once a week if that. I took a walk around our neighborhood maybe 3 times since March.

I need to walk every single day. I keep reading how good it is for you and the baby and it makes the delivery go easier too. So I am making a goal right now to do short 10 minute spurts as many times as I can throughout the day- shooting for 2 at first, working my way up to 3 times a day. 10 minutes either walking the stairs or walking around outside. I have a desk job so I spend 8 hours a day sitting on my butt and I know that isn't good for me or my little one.

The other thing is we bought a house during all this time and moved while I was pregnant- I didn't know why I was so tired! haha. So now we have this added pressure of still unpacking and getting our house in order. We have lived there for two months now and there is still so much work to be done. I wasn't feeling up to helping the hubs at all before the last few days- so now that I have more energy, I really need to step it up and get some things done.

He has been SO good- doing the dishes, cleaning, taking care of me- It is amazing to watch him get to excited about having a baby too. Oh I love him :)

So- I am going to take it one day at a time.

Goals for Today:

Walk the stairs at least once (They are 3 flights and I walk up and down them 3 times for a total of 9 flights)

Eat a high protein lunch with a fruit or veggie

Eat a high protein dinner with a fruit or veggie

Any other pregger Sparkers out there want to throw me some advice on how to stay healthy- don't be shy :)

    Congrats! I know someone else that will be moving during her 3rd trimester, so you're a lucky one to have gotten it out of the way so early:)

It sounds like you have a great plan- just stay active and keep with the healthy eating and you'll be great!

    Congrats - fellow pregnant Sparker here! It's my first pregnancy so not much advice to give but I think you have a pretty good plan. I am soooo hoping to lose the nausea and get back my energy soon, (11 weeks today) my poor DH has been a real trooper just like yours - cooking, cleaning, etc. But my doc says not to get my hopes up too much - I'm preggo with twins and she says to expect the worst so I'm not disappointed because many twin mommas are sicker longer and don't get back as much energy in the 2nd tri, boo :( Anyway, best of luck to you!     Congrats!! We got there quick once we started trying too!
You have a good plan, walking will help keep your energy up too-most women can exercise almost normally (with doctors blessing) through most of the 2nd tri
Don't skip breakfast, eat on a schedule if you can-small protein rich meals, this will be important when you hit the not hungry or hungry all the time days. Drink lots of water too!
Most of all don't stress over your weight, and enjoy your pregnancy!
