Getting my grove on

This week has been fantastic so far. I wish I didn’t bother trying to sub and just went back full time. I would have had less headaches and waiting around and more money that is for sure. I have really been busy. I work days this week so I have been taking advantage of Lindsay’s fitness classes. She is awesome. I took Zumba from her at UPEI and when I was going to the fitness center there, full of Panthers (the sports teams) and Seniors (there are special programs for those 60+ but these seniors are fit!) and no one else that is just plain out of shape. She was super nice and showed me how to use the equipment I was not familiar with. It was great. Her Zumba classes were super fun and used actual music and incorporated part of the song’s dance moves into the Zumba routine. I enjoyed it a lot more than the other Zumba classes I took. Once classes were done at UPEI she took over the Zumba she was doing before in New London. I had no idea. I was going to Hunter River and didn`t realize for 10 more minutes driving I could be going to her class. Anyway, I finally got a clue a couple of weeks ago and was been enjoying her classes ever since. This week, knowing I would miss the next two weeks because I work nights, I went to both her Zumba classes Monday and today. And yesterday I went to her Strength Training and Yoga classes. It was great. Now tomorrow I will do my Runkeeper workout in Victoria Park after work and will probably do the same on Friday. Saturday is my rest day because Charlie`s Walk is on Sunday. I feel a little guilty about my lack of fundraising. We didn`t get any sponsor sheet or anything for fundraising so I felt weird asking. In spite of my financial crisis, I`ll probably just drop some money down so I at least contribute something. Gail Vaz-Oxlade`s Money Rules are quite against it. If the money is not yours (borrowed) you can`t afford to give to charity. Well, I think I will be breaking it this time for this occasion. I am following her other rules quite well. Except I use an app instead of money jars. I think it still does the trick. She likes the jars because it is visual, you can see when the budget for example groceries is being spent, you see the money disappearing. I do have an app that I use all the time that tracks all my spending, I also plug in my budget per category and there is a slider that at it`s fullest is yellow and as the money is added, turns orange until it is all spent and is red. There is a slider for each category and once for all the categories combined. I love it and use it religiously. I mostly use debit and constantly lose receipts so I take special note of tracking all of my cash spending right there at the point of purchase and then every couple of days will update my spending from my debit card from my banking website. I find it works wonderfully and I have every cent accounted for and I can build a budget that works. I`m a little geeky about this, but it really does get me excited. Another thing that was really good this week was that I met up with my old friend Debbie at Zumba. We used to work at New Glasgow Lobster Suppers back in the day. It was great seeing her again and we might meet up in town to walk after work occasionally. All in all, things are looking much better since my last blog which was a bit of a downer quite frankly.
You know you`re 60`s old school when you remember the phrase ``The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain`` from the film version of the Broadway hit My Fair Lady with Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn. – Well, I never even was thought of in the 60`s but I do remember the phrase along with the words to almost every other song from the movie. Not only am I am Broadway play fan but I have sung that particular song in the Music Festival and believe I got first that year. There were a lot of really great singers to compete with but the show tune and folk category gave me a chance of placing.
