I am re-certified for CPR, AED (defibillator), first aid, and blood-borne pathogens!
I'm fortunate that my workplace offers annual training for about a dozen employees. I've been certified for about 10 years, but each year I learn something new or different. For instance, this year we were taught two-person CPR and a modified abdominal thrust if a very large-girthed person is choking.
I've always wondered if I'd remember my training should an emergency arise. Last summer that question was answered. We were at a restaurant, and in the booth next to us a boy started coughing. His parents panicked and thought he was choking. I stood up, ready to help--but thankfully, the boy was fine within seconds and didn't need help.
You never know when something could happen.
