I have not been a geek in a while so here it goes - There are six nutrient groups - water , vitamins , minerals , fats , protein's and carbs - We all know this right ?? All six groups are necessary for optimal health. But be honest - cause truth be told , when we look at most people's diet , MINERALS may be the Missing Link . Many people assume that vitamins and minerals are the same - not true - The main difference is that vitamins are organic substances ( meaning they contain the element carbon) and minerals are inorganic substances. Ninety six percent of the body's make up consist of :: Carbon , hydrogen, oxygen , and nitrogen. The remaiming four percent is mineral . To maintain Normal Body function and good health we need at 14-16 essential minerals . But , due to unwholesome dietary habits and also bad soil conditions , most of us are mineral deficient.
It took me a long time to understand Minerals but once I did the RESEARCH and understood the functions of each mineral for MY body ( cause everyone is different, I read this after a chemo session for a while a few years back Cancer Free now ) the weight peeled off !!
There are two types of minerals - Marcominerals aka Major -- that are needed in dose of 100 mg or more each day via food or other sources to maintain proper functions. The list : potassium , chlorine, phosphors , calcium , magnesium, sulfur and sodium. Marcominerals are present in all cells of the body , maintaining general homeostasis. Micro minerals meaning trace minerals - they are micronutrients that are chemical - the list : iron , molybdenum, chromium, copper ,manganese , fluoride, iodine, zinc, and selenium - they are needed in small quantities . With mineral more is not necessarily better !
The reason I write this blog is cause - I have to remind myself on occasion and two - I have read a ton of blogs lately of Good Sparkies that are tired and hungry and frustrated, not that I mind reading - I used to be this way - not any more - because I took the time to READ as to how these important minerals fuel our body and enzymes for Efficient body functions. Before we get all confused with this you need to know how your enzymes actually function, you see you might not really be hungry , its that your body needs a mineral and its trying to tell you that I need a Mineral opposed to food - so getting well balanced may curve the Munchies - Your Physician's are not going to tell you this stuff
Hmmm , neither is Big Pharma- who are both making a ton of money !!!
