Baby Got Back(ache)

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

OK... so it started Sunday afternoon, while still working on lopping trees and carrying the brush to the street, but I stopped upon pricking my finger on a thorny weed. Figured THAT would be my 'injury of the day' as I usually end up with something.

Nope, that wasn't enough. My back continued hurting, and so bad that I couldn't stand upright and walk Monday morning. Nor all day Monday. I had taken a flexeril Sunday night, after a nice soak in the tub with epsom salt. To no avail. More flexeril Monday evening at bedtime, and still yesterday it hurt too much to move around. So, after 2 sick days, I'm still in pain, altho' I don't guess quite as severe.

Have put in a call to the gastro doc, since so many doses of flexeril haven't relaxed it, I'm wondering if it isn't muscular after all. Still waiting on the call back from that doc's office - I could only leave a message on the nurse's v/mail. So, here I sit in pain at work, heating pad warming my lower back. Waiting in pain. Just couldn't stomach another day of Law & Order: SVU re-runs today LOL

The thing that is killing me most, is that I've barely gotten any steps at all. Monday's steps apparently didn't register while I had the softest shuffle-walk, and the One attached to the jammy top that I wore all day. I know I can't beat myself up for not hitting the elliptical or doing videos, when I can't even stand/walk without excruciating pain. But, still... it's so frustrating knowing that all I can do is control intake at this point. & of course, you're never as hungry as when you are just sitting around!!!

Depending on the results of the callback from the gastro doc, I think I just may go on to urgent care. & wouldn't you know, our interwebz at work (area-wide, not just ours) just went down. I can't even post this!!! GAH!

Guess I'll copy this to notepad for later...

Oh, you're not kidding it's too funny - we have auditors in house this week!!!! LOL (& I missed the first 2 days they were here)

Gonna be interesting, to say the least!

I'm sorry your hurt, but that bit about "inappropriate happiness" is just too funny! I got a little chuckle out of picturing you at work being ridiculously happy while something terrible is going on. Too funny!

OK... so yup... never got the callback from gastro doc's office, so I went ahead to urgent care. She felt it was injury/overuse/sprain and I can sorta agree, just apparently worse than previous overuse times when the baths and flexeril did the trick. She put me on a prednisone pack.

I expressed worry about it putting weight on (esp since I can't really do much of anything right now!) and she tried to tell me that the dose was low enough that it shouldn't be a problem.

Here's hoping it does the trick and alleviates the inflamation there causing this pain. She told me to also continue with everything else I was already doing (don't I feel smart now? LOL)... baths, flexeril, heating pad.

Pharmacist told me if I wanted to start the 'day 1' (6 dang pills) tonight, to go ahead and take 3 with dinner, then 3 with more food at bedtime. Then tomorrow resume as the package instructs taking at mealtimes.

Of course, I always read the monograph/info on anything before I take it - and this one had me in stitches (before the first dose): Inappropriate Happiness!!! I emailed my boss, and told him if I have that side effect tomorrow, to feel free to send me home :) Maybe I'll just lock myself in my office tomorrow.

Here's hoping it does the trick!!!
