Finding the Right Diet for You

This isn't really about weight loss. This is about my struggle to gain some control over my health - especially inflammation. I think I need to do that before I can lose weight since I already exercise 5 to 6 hours a week plus eat within my calorie limits. Yesterday my inflammation levels were sky high. I think I was all swollen inside. I was trying to eat dinner and I started to choke because my esophagus was so swollen. I've switched to a low histamine diet and I've "lost" 2 pounds overnight just from some of the inflammation going down.
I was doing a combination of low carb and the GAPs diet to try and deal with inflammation that way. It turns out that both low carb and the GAPs diet are high histamine diets. I was getting sicker, not better. Now that inflammation has been triggered, it is really hard to get it under control.
My son is having terribly bad allergies to the point where he almost can't function. He is so dopey and miserable. He's doing the low histamine diet with me now too. That reminds me that I also need to focus on his water intake. Dh (an RN) thinks he is dehydrated.

I have been thinking about you on and off all morning.
Then I ran across this just now, and wanted to share. I have only skimmed it so I dont know if it will help or not, I just saw that it mentioned inflammation and I thought of you.
BioTrust makes a good probiotic I think. I also take some resistant starch most daily, couple of TBLs.
Also, the Perfect Health Diet, might be able to help. On their webpage is alot of free info, and Paul is so very good about personally answering questions, at least so far he is still able to :) Maybe a search there will turn up something for you :)

Hi dear one,
Gluten Free diet changed my life! If I eat gluten my hands are like Mickey Mouse hands! I feel swollen, achy, depressed, and so sluggish! Joint pain and fibro flare. With Just going Gluten free my fibro is almost not noticeable on most days, joint pain, swollen ankles, swollen belly, all gone...and have lost 60 pounds in a year without tracking food!
Now I am getting more serious about losing the last 50 pounds and staring to exercise and track food.

I am so sorry to hear that both you and your son are having a tough time of it. However, hope staying on the low histamine diet will be the thing to make thr both of you much better. What kind of changes do you make for a low histamine diet?
