Little Update

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

We had a great time camping this past weekend. It was Jimi, my little sister, her bf and me. It was nice to actually talk to my sister's bf, since we are a loud family and he is so quiet. He is very outdoorsy (hiking, camping, backpacking, mountain biking etc), so we got along great. J love anyone who can use a chainsaw and can split wood :)
I think the food highlight was a chicken and bean enchilada casserole we made in the dutch oven. Of course, we were so excited that we didn't get a picture emoticon I also drank considerably less that I have at previous camping trips, so I'm super proud of that. We did a 4 mile hike, explored around the river and hung out around the fire. Oh, and Jimi was about to buy himself a french press to take camping, soI had to unhide the one I'd bought him for his birthday... emoticon

I decided to stick it out and finish the month of detox days each week, even with the issues I brought up in my last blog. With extra planning, I could easily get my protein up for the day. Monday was a dud. There was a spur of the moment invite for dinner because a friend was in town, followed by (extremely delicious, large portions of) ice cream in the historic part of Yorktown. It was fun. Obviously, I didn't follow the detox plan, but followed it yesterday and today.

New Food Plan
Instead of doing 'detox' days, I think I'm going to try for 4ish days of unprocessed, no sugar etc per week. I love cheese and yogurt and kicking them out of my life on the detox days isn't working. I really rely on them for protein, especially on days where I don't eat meat (which is 4-5 days per week).

I'm still way under the level I was at 4-5 months ago. I've been doing videos at home, or making up workouts. I got a Groupon for 1 month at a gym near my office, so I'm going to try that out. After that's over, I'm planning to do a 1 month trial membership at a yoga studio near my office and a 1 week trial at a yoga studio near my house. I think I really miss the classes, which were not offered at my old gym. I've also been getting in 10-20 minutes of exercise 4ish days a week before work (um, minus this week emoticon ).

Well, it got kind of long, but that's what I'm doing. I need to start having more witty, fun blogs!

Glad to hear your trip went so well! Sounds super fun. Wooohooo to the small victory of drinking less! I know how easy it can become a habit. Good luck with continuing to detox! Let us know how those yoga classes go.

Always good to find out what works for you; I agree I would be lost for protein if I eliminated greek yogurt (and all cheese...). I like the idea of majority clean days rather than detox, sounds good to me! Sounds like great ideas to up your exercise too!

aww hope you didn't have to give him his present too early, figures right?!
