My Motivation - Weight of common items - pictures attached

Since I started using Spark almost 2 years ago, I have lost a dishwasher!!! What I mean is, I lost 91 pounds so far which is the weight of some dishwashers! See below for some pictures of objects & their weights! I actually lost 94 pounds, but then I gained a few back! Without the help of this website, who knows what I would be doing right now.

Random people tell me I am skinny now although I don't know if I believe them. I was shopping for clothes the other day, and a random woman started chatting with me. She asked me "Why do they have these stripes on so many clothes? They only look good on skinny women like you". It is still strange to hear someone say that to me about me! I struggle with how I look with my clothes off and sometimes with them on. I have bulges I wish I could magically make go away! Although I have lost 91 pounds so far, I still feel Big. What I try to keep telling myself, is that what -I- think of myself is most important. I need to continue to support myself & be proud of what I have accomplished so far. When I can, I give myself compliments. Caring about my myself, my actions, and my outlook is important to my journey.

When I lose weight now, I only lose .2 to .4 of a pound. 1/8 and 1/4 of a pound isn't very much compared to losing 2 to 5 pounds at a time. I wanted to do some more research about items that weigh less than a pound to help motivate me. If knowing I lost the same weight as a baby giraffe can motivate me to keep moving forward, then maybe knowing I lost the same weight as a normal serving size of chicken. A baby giraffe? Yes! On an old blog of mine, I posted some pictures of Things and put how much they weighed. One was a baby giraffe that weighed 80 pounds. I still joke around saying "I lost a baby giraffe". What actually motivates me is the fact that I DID LOSE THAT MUCH WEIGHT! Even though my mind is still not happy with how my body is.. I truly did lose 91 pounds. I am healthier and feel better than I did when I was in college.

All of these pictures are just to hopefully inspire Spark members to realize that any loss is amazing. For many of us, it is so hard to say NO to certain food and just as difficult to say YES to exercise. Even maintaining is great. and you know what? Even gaining weight is OK too. We all gain back some weight for different reasons. I gained back 6 pounds in 3 weeks!! But I looked back at how far I came, and I knew I could lose the weight again. As long as we keep pushing ourselves, we should feel proud! If you fall of the wagon, figure out how to get back up! It may be a completely different path than the one you took before, but the journey is important and unique to each one of us!

Even if we ate within calorie range for 7 days, exercised for 5 days, and drank 10 cups of water a day - there is no guarantee that we will lose weight that week. When I don't lose weight, I just remind myself that all of my healthy choices are important to my body no matter what the scale says! Maybe knowing some weeks I lose the same weight as a quarter pounder patty will help me feel satisfied with myself! Be proud of what you have accomplished so far. Losing 1 pound or 100 pounds is a great way to be a healthier you! =)

    Enjoyed your blog! Very interesting. I read these blogs to get inspired and hopefully learn something. So thanks for the education. I lost a microwave. My favorite photo is the 5 lbs. of fat to muscle comparison. I used to keep a picture like that on my fridge. The photo speaks volumes, doesn't it? It pretty much says it all. The reason we exercise. Also the reason why I shouldn't get so hung up on the number on the scale and put more stock in how I look and what size clothes I am wearing now.

Lastly, friends and family are starting to tell me I look skinny. When I think of skinny, I think of my size 1 teenage daughter, not me. I am thinner than I used to be, but certainly not skinny. (I'm a size 10!) I don't take that comment very seriously, especially since it is my loved ones saying it. However, if a total stranger comments on how thin you are, she speaks the truth. She has no reason to flatter you. So you should revel in that compliment! Enjoy!

    Thank you, what a great reminder and something I needed to hear. I've lost a dishwasher as well. I still get stuck in the "former fat girl" mentality. Have to redirect our thoughts when we start to criticize ourselves or still feel stuck in our "old selves".

    Love the blog. So I have lost the size of a 2.0 cu ft microwave. Awesome. Also love the reminder about how much muscle and fat weigh compared to how big they are. I needed that. Looks like I need to get more muscle in. Way to go on your accomplishments thus far, and enjoy all the skinny compliments from people you don't know, it's a wonderful thing. Have a good weekend.

    Wow - I never knew my vacuum was that heavy no wonder why I work up a sweat !! emoticon Nice blog Kim , I know what you mean about bulges - when I cross the line of a 5k its my size 40 C boobs that cross first !! But seriously I know these bulges will shrink and form into shape .It just takes time . Nice comparison of weights. You right everyone is different and everybody's journey is their own - I still think you look Awesome and you deserve that compliment from that woman , I think sometimes its hard for us to see the accomplishment you know what I mean !!     Awesome blog! Looking at weight loss in this light really puts things into perspective, doesn't it? I have the same body image issues as you. Whenever somebody calls me skinny I can't help but fight the urge to look around and see if they're talking to somebody else. I still see myself as a larger person. But holy cow! You've lost a dishwasher, and I've almost lost an anvil. That's got to count for something! We should be super proud of our accomplishments!

    Kimpy, You look really great to me! I have had to work on that part of myself alot over the years. I look in the mirror and I see something completely different than you see. I was your size in my twenty's but I only saw a very fat person. I really needed a reality check. I can't tell you how many times now I think back how much I wish I was as fat as I was then and I could say to myself then, hey girl you are great you look great you are healthy you are fine. Now I am Fat and I see myself as thinner than I am and I have to have a reality check about that. So I work on seeing the truth! The truth will set you free. Not to indulge in unhealthy food or practises, but free to live to the fullest! That is my goal, to be healthy, and free to live the way I want to live. Do things I can't do at this size. But I can do sooooo much more than I could 67 lbs ago so I see that as my truth. Thank you for all the pictures, I have lost a compact Fridge! Whoo HOO

    I've stalled at 2 cats or a vacuum cleaner (16 lbs.). Thanks for the blog it puts the weight lost into perspective and I think is helpful at least tome.

    OK- I'll take a TV, some sausage, lots of apples, vacuum, and ..... I know, it's a little odd to look back and see how many objects we've been toting around.

Changing subjects a little-

I love eggs. Really love eggs. Not supposed to eat the entire carton, ONLY TWO. That's where my weight loss is, same as you. Two eggs= 5 ounces.
Let's push it a little. 3 eggs per week, that's one dozen per month, or 144 eggs per year.

Now that's getting it done.
