My gourmet life

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

As I trundled off to work this morning it struck me what a great spread I was taking along in my little plastic containers:

For breakfast: Trader Joe's smoked herring tossed with some greek yogurt

Morning snack: Fresh slices of kohlrabi from my garden with roasted garlic hummus

Lunch: A home-made improvised chicken pie made with eggplant from my garden, red peppers and onions, and a grain-free crust of almond meal, flax meal and olive oil.

It don't get much better than this.

But I'm still coasting on the exercise and tracking. I need another doctor to tell me I'm going to die if I don't lose weight.

Sounds like a great combination of healthy food. I'm just finally reorganized since heading back east and decided it was time to start tracking again. I think I gained about 3 pounds since I got back with all the rain and lack of tennis playing.

I splurged and got a new scale. The old one here could have you weight vary 3 to 4 pounds within 5 minutes of each weighing. This one doesn't change, no matter how many times you try to trick it. Being more sure of my weight and tracking again has helped lose 2 pounds in three days. According to the new scale now, I'm only a half pound up since leaving out west.

My eggplant and cucumber plants just opened their first flowers today. thank goodness we have a great farmer's market her 2 times a week. Today I picked up the best tasting snap people....big, plump and sweet from all the rain. Great for snacking on.

I missed your blog until today. Sounds delicious; I hope you enjoyed every bite. It's really hard to put (and keep) all the elements together, isn't it? I'm working very long hours in the garden lately, and my tracking has slipped. I'm also snacking too much. That means I'm not getting the benefit of all the activity points.

Maybe one of these days I'll get it all together!

Sounds like a yummy healthy food fest. It is such a wonder why when food choices are going so well, it is doubly hard to keep the exercise going, too. At least that is my experience. Challenges, challenges.

Enjoy your weekend!
