McDonalds Egg White Sandwich

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

McDonalds Egg White McMuffin w/sausage vs McDonalds Egg McMuffin w/sausage. I love them, I can't deny it. And though I have been really concentrating on cutting out the fast food, my biggest stumbling block, there are just days such as this morning that I have no other choice. I have not been to the grocery store and I have been too sick to keep up on the dishes, the combination making for a must stop for something this morning. I wanted to try the new egg white mcmuffin...and yes, i wanted my sausage. I liked it, but I'll be honest, I missed the whole egg. i love my eggs ;) So, the next test is the nutrition count. Not that this will be an everyday thing, nor even once a week, but a good to know for when these mornings do happen.

McDonalds Egg White McMuffin w/sausage
Calories-420

McDonalds Egg McMuffin w/sausage

Total fat-27g
Cholesterol-55mg
Sodium-920mg

For me, the 30 calories isn't worth the extra sodium nor the taste, though not bad, just not worth the 30 calories.

Today I was in McDonalds and I saw that they do indeed make their egg mcmuffins, both the real and the white, with sausage.

Now you've tempted me! I do like the regular egg mcmuffin, but after seeing this blog twice and now seeing the egg mcmuffin with sausage in McDonald's hereabouts, well, I'm gonna have to try it.

And I will have the real one with the egg yolk. The yolk does make a difference.

I never heard of sausage in Egg McMuffin. I tried the new egg white one with some 50 calories less, but frankly, I like that egg yolk. I'll pay the extra 50 calories and get the regular sandwich.

Yes, I know that yolks have calories and cholesterol. But that's also where the vitamins are.

I haven't tried this sandwich. However, I have eaten the Subway egg white sandwich.I like the idea of cutting cholesterol so the idea of an egg white appeals to me when I do have a fast food breakfast.

Not a big difference in calories and definitely not worth the higher sodium!

I wonder, though, where the increase in fiber comes from? 3x the fiber in the egg white McMuffin?

I wondered about this. I too like to go to McDonalds for breakfast. When I do I get a sausage burrito and an unsweet tea. I just was wondering if this new thing was good.........thanks for checking it out for all of us.
