The Favorite Teacher

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

My favorite teachers are the one who know the art of seeing and listening. They patiently listen with their heart, and see me for who I am, and may one day become. Their lessons are created with me in mind, knowing my interests. They do not always insist on their own way during a lesson, but allow for short detours to hear what is important to me. They forget neither their objective, nor their student.
My favorite teachers seldom seemed to have a bad day. They are not rude, arrogant or irritable. They always believe the best about me, and have the highest hopes for my success. I do all that I can not to disappoint.
I continue to grow as a teacher today because of the great teachers who are in my life today, and have been in my life in the past.

Excellent blog! I couldn't agree more. The funny thing is, after all the years I've been out of school, I might remember the less helpful (and some downright mean ones too) teachers I had, but I sure do remember clearly the teachers that really helped, encouraged and motivated me! and I remember them with love! emoticon emoticon

I so totally agree. I had such a teacher. She inspired me so very much and just maybe that is one reason I became a teacher myself. Sure hope I left footprints of love on many hearts. emoticon

Good description for mentors to live up to, and for folks to bear in mind when selecting a teacher.

emoticon I agree and I needed this today! I have a "challenging" student that has behavioral difficulties. This was a great motivator for me to stay focused on the reason I teach! emoticon
