I joined SP shortly after Christmas last year, and I've only lost nine pounds. I could throw up my hands and give up like before, but I choose to keep going because those pounds aren't all that I've lost.
I've lost or overcome a lot of bad habits too. Sometimes I think they've been harder to lose than the pounds. Some of these habits began long before I became overweight! Childhood habits like "clean your plate, or no dessert." Cultural habits like serving mashed potatoes, bread filling and corn with turkey and gravy on top and not a bit of the dinner plate showing. Learned habits like calming myself with food to relieve stress or anxiety. Or associating a Sunday drive with a stop for ice cream, because that's what my family did. Or not exercising because no one in my family ever did. Work was always more important.
These habits can reappear at any time, just like unwanted pounds. Replacing them with new and better choices is a constant work in progress, but I choose to keep working on it.
