Last week on our vacation I had a big victory. I am the lady who hates exercise. I've been walking regularly for the last 7 months because it does wonderful things for my blood sugar and health. Walking outside in the neighborhood (up and down hills) or on the river walk or other hikes is great fun. Walking inside - not as exciting but same health benefits. So last week we were at Steelhead Falls which is only a mile round trip but down a very steep slope and, of course, back up again. My husband and a friend went with me and not only was I thrilled to do that hike with a lot of strength but I had the pleasure of their amazement that I could do it.

I'm 66 years old. Only 4 months I'll be 67!! I want to be as active as possible as long as possible and with increased strength and motivation I believe I will do it. Today I added strength training to my exercise. A new challenge that will bring many benefits.

    I have been walking again and enjoying it. But it wasn't till I changed my diet this week that I am seeing an amazing change in my blood sugars.... Can only imagine if I wasn't doing either... guess I would be like my 2 younger brothers, both on insulin, though I've been diabetic for 5-10 years longer...

    Steel Head Falls is in Central Oregon. Did you get to check out some other land formations over there too? I have not been, but want to. Hasn't our weather been just perfect this spring. Some sun, some rain, some beautiful flowers.

    I need to get started. I am only 63 and sometimes I feel 73 when it comes to strength.

    Wow! Way to go girl! How did the strength training go? That is so great that you awed the guys with your strength and ability. I am so proud of you!!
