Good news, Bad news....

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

Some things I have been keeping inside for way too long...

Good news - DD made the last payment on her car in May. Brought the title last week to BMV to have it changed from Indiana to Tennessee and also put car in her name.

Bad news - while driving to work yesterday someone made a left turn in front of her while she was going through the intersection. You guessed it....they collided. Tow truck driver said in his opinion her car is totalled....other car just has some damage to the front passenger headlight area. Have to wait for insurance to be sure but looking at pictures on her cell phone hers looks like she was hit by a truck.

Good news -- Only the vehicles were damaged. DD only has a bruise on her collarbone and stomach from seatbelt. The five in the other car were also okay. Thank goodness for airbags.

---------------
Good news - DH retired.

Bad news -- Company he worked for was taken over by another while coming out of bankruptcy and decided to move the headquarters to Minnesota from Memphis and use their existing staff members to fill the positions. So as of May 31st, he and several hundred others were out of jobs.

---------------
Good news -- In May, our DS graduated from high school with a regular diploma. Which for us was an amazing accomplishment as he is 21 and was diagnosed with autism at 6 yrs old. We had been told by previous school systems that at best he would get a certificate of completion. The school system here in Tennessee from the administrators to the teachers/staff said he/we can do better than that....and set about doing just that. It wasn't an easy road but we are so proud of him. emoticon

---------------
Good news -- I resigned my position at the school I worked at. It really was not a good fit for me.

Bad news -- now I need to find a job with benefits as with DH' s retirement we will not have any once COBRA is gone.

---------------
Good news -- we may be moving......for those that know Me. Yes again.....

Bad news -- haven't decided where just yet.

Good news -- went to Texas a few weeks ago to check out the San Antonio and Austin areas. This week we are headed to the Nashville area to check it out.

Bad news -- through all the upheaval of the last few weeks/months .... I have gained 10+ pounds and am feeling down...and questioning why I am on this journey to a healthier lifestyle.......

Thanks for reading my blog.... emoticon emoticon

Congratulations to your son for his accomplishments and for you and DH for being the type parents he needs. Looking at San Antonio? My friends love it there but I hear it is hot as Hades in the summer. Don't know about Nashville. My very dear friend lives in Madisonville, Tenn. and of course loves it! I can certainly understand the ups and downs and the rollercoaster rides were always ones I avoided at amusement parks and in life they are worse. Hope things even out for you and the perfect jobs come along soon. A friend told me once that you can only eat an elephant one bite at a time; so, when things look insurmountable take that elephant in hand and eat one bite and don't take another until the first is eaten completely!

Dee, my dear friend, emoticon to you and yours! I have to agree with so many of the others here, NOT only did you focus on the positives along with those negatives, but you put those positives FIRST in your statements!!! Stress really does funny things to our bodies, doesn't it? I wish you both the BEST of luck in finding the perfect place for you to move to, and finding a job that fits SOO much better for you! emoticon to your son, and thank goodness your daughter was not hurt too bad. Your dear friends are here for you!

You see all the good stuff - that's huge! And I know you can focus on that to push forward.
The weight will come off - give yourself a break. Stress is a big contributor. As the answers about what's next come, so will the motivation to be healthy.

So many changes, so much stress!

I feel really sorry for your daughter and I hope she gets enough money to replace the car.

My hubby had the same thing happen to him years ago but his job went to Canada.

It sounds like you ar looking at some nice places to move.

other people would just report on the negative and moan about their lot in life but you find the positive. Don't you see Dee, part of your quest for a healthy life is to give something positive to you. Things will settle down again. You will move and you will still have us, your Spark friends to support you. The number on the scale is not permanent. Your positive attitude is. Be blessed.

Wow Dee! That is a crazy amount of significant life changes to deal with in a short period of time. Focus on the things that you can control and know that this is only temporary. Try to do one thing each day that will help you with that 10 pounds and you will start to feel better. You are here for all the right reason it's just a difficult time. What you want to avoid is letting that 10 become 20 or 30. Just work on the first 2 lbs for right now.

Big hugs hunny!

Dee this a greast blog. You have turned most things into positives. I am sorry for your daughters car but once the insurance comes through she can get another one - right?

I feel that this latest move will be the best. You will find another job and it will be the right one for you. Stepping stones is what I call all the hiccups in life. Then we find a good flat rock and all is good.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a good location with a good job.

Wow! I think with all the ups and downs you have done great. Don't beat yourself up about the weight gain, just make some small changes so that you don't gain any more and then once things settle down get back on track to get rid of that 10. You can do it - you have already proven what a strong person you are with all life throws at you!
