Boot Camp update Week 1

I made it through my first week at Boot camp on Friday! I was so excited, except when I stepped on the scales - a 5# gain!! And you don't gain that much muscle that quickly - I tried to justify it that way. I called my Doctor and she suggest I cut back on my carbs, big time. Aim for 50grams a day. As low as possible... So over the weekend I dropped all breads, and fruits, and anything that wasn't mostly protein (I hadn't been to the grocery store for more fresh veggies).

Sunday was grocery day and I added back some veggies. Monday I ate proteins and veggies and this morning, a 2# loss. I'm going to show my meal plans from last week and what I'm doing now to my boot camp leader to see if she sees anything else I may have done wrong. At least it looks like the scales are going the correct direction now.

    Keep in mind that you also can't gain 5# of fat in a week. The scale can be a terrible way to measure short term gains and losses. If you're not tracking nutrition, you might want to do that, as well. It'll help you keep count of your calories and carbs and also your calcium and fiber, if you want it to.

    It sounds like you're on top of things... don't let the scale have to much control of your feelings of success or failure... as it's just ONE way to measure your progress!!!
