Someone is trying to tell us not to go north of St. Charles on the Katy Trail. The last time we did, we rode through a patch of hidden thorns and had holes in our tires. We did not have enough extra tires/patches to fix our tires so a gentleman took me and four others back to our cars and we had to go back and pick up the bikes. (We found out later that there had been a warning posted on the Katy Trail site.)
This time we ran into flooding problems. The trail runs along the Missouri River in many places and this particular area is low so the trail was damaged by high water. It looked like they had gotten equipment in to redefine the trail, but it was much too rutty and muddy for roadies.
Here's the good news.........it was a beautiful morning and we saw many deer. We counted 9 deer on one field and had a doe and her baby cross the trail right in front of us later on. We had parked our car close to an Irish pub so we stopped in for a bite and a brew after our ride. We also found a new coffee house (open for breakfast/lunch) just a block from the trail. We often go out early because of the warm weather and it will be nice to have a place that is open early.
Speaking of getting out early, I have gardening to do and it's supposed to be in the mid 90's today. I hope you have a great day!
