Progress... it's working

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

So, my rededication to exercise has involved no calorie counting, rather, just sensible choices and portions.

And apparently I've *finally* learned enough about what goes in my body that this is enough for me to lose weight.

After being stuck at 187.4 for so long that I was thinking that it was going to be my permanent weight, I've weighed in this morning at 185! Two days ago, I got 185.4, and then yesterday, 187, but this time, I'm counting it. ;) The 187 was from sodium, methinks; we did a now-unaccustomed trip to a Mexican restaurant.

The unfortunate thing is that I've rolled my ankle again. It's not too bad, and should be okay in a few days, but this is starting to get annoying. It's always that one. I guess I'm one of those now who can say "I have weak ankles." Or ankle, the other one's fine.

The good thing is that I'm playing it up a bit with my husband for sympathy. LOL. I spend so much time taking care of him that I'm letting him take care of me for once. It DOES hurt, but not as bad as I make it out to be. ;) Don't worry, I'll let him off the hook when I feel stable enough to drive unassisted.

I'm awful, I know.

Anyway, that's what's going on in Dragon Land. This week is good, because the girls are doing TWO VBS churches... one from 9-1 PM, in the morning, and one from 6-8:30 in the evening. It's kinda nice!

Hope that ankle heals soon (but not too soon so you can enjoy that extra attention)!

The same ankle seems to get re-injured once it happens the first time, bummer! men are such big babies when they get sick so I say play it up. I'm at the dreaded plateau for like all of June so I feel your pain there.

It's not exercise that's my problem. The ironic thing is I've NEVER hurt my ankle during exercise; I take special care when I exercise, and honestly baby it.

It's always during non-exercise activities that it happens. THe last two times, walking to the car, about 20 feet, from the house.

Once you've hurt a joint significantly, you're forever at risk for addiitonal problems, and that risk increases with each incident. Consider getting an over the counter brace for that ankle to use during exercise and when you'll be doing significant walking. Take it off the rest of the time, as you don't want the muscles to atrophe from not being properly used. But as someone with a genetic disposition for horrible joints and progressive problems (subluxations and dislocations), I know how hard it is to deal with a joint problem as well as the importance of preventing further problems. And don't forget to RICE!

WTG on finding a plan that is working for you!

Sorry to hear about your ankle - sort of. I mean some days we can feel desperate for some good old attention and pampering - LOL! Might want to think about keeping those ankles wrapped and looking into some ankle strengthening exercises before something more serious happens. Meanwhile, glad your enjoying some respite care emoticon

Do you wear any sort of brace on your ankle when you work out? They are a pain in the butt, but can do a world of good!

And no calorie counting, sensible eating, and cutting myself some slack in letting my self sensibly enjoy some treats has made a world of difference. I'm getting to the point where I have a healthy relationship with food and I can't even remember the last time I could say that.
