Getting off the computer

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

I admit, part of my problem is I can goof around on the internet all DAY LONG! Then suddenly I notice that it is almost dinner time and I have accomplished next to nothing. Today I made a rule for myself: In between goofing off on the computer episodes, I must get up and do at least 5 things that I need to do. I made myself a list before I went to bed last night. I woke up rested and started doing my list items right away. Wish me luck! emoticon

I spend tons of time on the computer as well. Every half an hour I try to get up and do something around the house.

Doing pretty well on my list! Thanks for the encouragement. Just noticed that I hadn't eaten breakfast yet and it is 11:00 so I stopped to eat and take a break. Next: errands that are outside the house

    good luck....
I reward myself with computer time.....when I get so much done I get 30 minutes computer time, I set the timer..then I won't loose track of the time....

I have a rule that I must exercise before any computer time...

this works for me

I always liked FlyLady's suggestion of using a timer for things like this where the time just seems to get away from you. You set it for 15 minutes, and for that amount of time you surf to your heart's content with no guilt. When the timer goes off you do something on your to-do list for up to 15 minutes. Then you get to compute some more. At the end of the day you still spent almost as much time as usual on the computer but you actually accomplished a lot of other things as well.

It's amazing how quickly time goes by when we're surfing the Internet :-)

I commend you for having a goal of doing at least 5 things on your list. Your plan should keep you moving and help you have a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day.
