My insomnia has become worse. For the last 2 months i have only slept 5 to 6 hours per night except last night first 8 hours in 2 months. I don't know what to do. I am so tired but just cant sleep. Any ideas?

    Hope you can find answers for this. Have had this problem and went to 10mg of Melatonin and this seems to work for me. I take it around 9:30 to 10:00, then read in bed until I fall asleep which is usually pretty quick. emoticon

    I feel like I've tried everything in my quest for sleep. Went to my doctor, she checked my thyroid - among other things - put me on medication. I've tried exercise in the morning, then I switched to exercise in the afternoon. No caffeine after 7 a.m. No food within an hour of bed time. Then I tried 3 oz turkey breast right before bed. I only use my bed for sleeping or sex. In desperation I took prescription "sleep aids", didn't help. I even tried putting the head of the bed to the north. Now I'm practicing breathing exercises while I lay in bed right before I fall asleep, and I practice then periodically if I awake during the night. Which I usually do. This is having the biggest impact so far.
    I've been told that stress plays a huge role in sleep problems. Some times we have no control over stress though.
    I hope that you can find some way to help yourself to sleep longer/better without resorting to drugs (unless they're for your thyroid). emoticon
