PROMOTIONS!!! and Pain

Monday, June 24, 2013

Hey there Sparkers!!

Let's start with the good (if you didn't already see my status about it a few days ago...)

Many of you know that I was let go from a full-time teaching position in February and then started working at Victoria's Secret part time. I then (1 month ago, actually) interviewed for a full time position. I found out after that, that the manager of the store where I interviewed (one place for all spots in the district for convenience sake) wanted me for a DIFFERENT position in HER store!

Based on comments from her the next few times I saw her and the feedback I got from my current boss, it was pretty much a done deal that I would get said promotion.

But of course, everyone loves the waiting game, and interviews happened right before our huge Semi-Annual sale and all stores were a madhouse. So I waited. And waited....

Last week I ended up working for the manager who expressed interest, and she spoke to me privately about coming to officially work for her!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!!

As of next Monday, I will be traveling a bit further, yes, but I will:
a) receive a pay increase
b)full time hours
c)benefits!
d)PTO (ohhh yeah lol)
e)lots and lots of fun for sure

It will be about 10-15 minutes farther than where I currently work, but I'm willing to deal with that for the above mentioned "perks."

My current manager and all of my friends are super bummed that I'm not working at this store anymore, but of course, are all really excited as well!

This just calls for a: YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

And then of course, "tragedy" hits in another way. I did my ST and went for a short run on Thursday and must have lifted too heavy or had poor form or some combination of the two because my back was in SO much pain! Not sitting, laying, or standing hurt it, but the going from sitting up to standing is when it hurt. Which was good that I could still function at work, but nevertheless... has kind of derailed my workout routine until today.

I thought about doing some cardio, then opted out and did ST again after remembering that I have resistance bands that I thankfully used instead of my weights. I'll try some cardio tomorrow and use the bands also for probably the rest of the week until I'm sure that I won't aggravate my back any more than necessary!

Anywho... that's a quick little update. I'm off to finish watching this hockey game and hope that the storm is OVER!

Happy Monday and goodnight! emoticon

yay!! congrats!! Sorry about your back, as you know, I'm in the same boat. Its getting a little better, I would try some yoga, stretching and warming up the body before gentle movements has helped me.

Congrats again!!

Take care of that back and don't push things to hard or it could bother you worse for longer. Congrats on the job situation! Hope it goes as well as you are hoping it will!

Woohoo on getting the fulltime job! emoticon Be careful on the back front. I fell and injured my back awhile back and it definitely takes time to get back to normal..doing too much too soon can slow down the healing process.

Love the quote.. emoticon
