Looking ahead to 12 pounds down

This week for the BLC 22 weekend challenge we were asked to post a blog about us reaching one of our BLC 22 goals. Mine are relatively modest ... sleep, eat fish, strength train. The one goal I set for myself that seemed ambitious was to be 12 pounds lighter at the end of BLC 22.

That goal might not seem crazy ambitious to you. You might say that an average weight loss to look for is 1 to 2 pounds a week, so losing 12 pounds over the 12 weeks of the BLC should be a snap.

A quick aside ... I participated in BLC 21 as a Courageous Copper Cougar and while I ended the 12 weeks weighing slightly less than when I started, I wasn't happy with myself. If i lost, it would be fractions of a pound. If i had a big loss one week, I had a bigger gain the next. I blamed my body, my circumstances, Spark.

Somewhere during the break between BLC 21 and BLC 22, I had an attitude shift. I don't know precisely where it came from, but one of the results seems to be that I'm more invested in this Spark journey I'm on. I'm working the program. The external stressors in my life -- some still there, some receding, slowly, into the horizon -- I seem to be able to handle a little more effectively. And somehow I'm seeing better results during this BLC.

I lost 2.4 pounds from week 1 to week 2. And another 2.4 pounds from week 2 to week 3. I am cursing myself a little bit even typing this in a blog, for the fear that I'm gonna jinx myself this week.

The upshot is, the 12-pound weight loss goal I set for myself a few weeks ago seems achievable to me tonight. I hope I do. I imagine it'll feel pretty good.
