oh, jillian

Last week I ordered a couple of Jillian dvd's off Amazon (used=cheap). One of them was 6 Week Six Pack, since Workout 1 was on youtube, but Workout 2 wasn't. I was curious. Workout 1 barely has me even breaking a sweat, so I kind of wanted more of a challenge.

I got what I asked for.

This was a pretty darned brutal exercise routine. By the time I got to the cooldown, I was basically just crawling around on the floor gasping for breath. It got my heart rate past 165, which is past the 85% mark. The first workout was basically a long list of variations of crunches. This one was a bunch of swinging, leaping, twisting madness. I can feel it a bit in my abs, but I am excruciatingly aware of butt muscles I never knew I had. This is abs and butt and shoulders and back and probably some body parts that I don't know offhand. I could not keep up with the reps and speed of the little twenty-somethings in the video. 33 minutes seemed like a really long time.

I definitely think I can rotate days between this one and NMTZ. And I'm still going to try to get a couple of miles in every day. So far I haven't been doing to well at that. "Two-a-day" seems like a perfectly fine idea, but as the day rolls on, I get caught up in stuff (groceries, housework, errands, etc) and can never seem to work that second exercise in. Sometimes it's a motivation thing, sometimes it's just time management. I can work on it.

I had to chuckle at your description of crawling around on the floor. I do this w/o with my 18 yr old daughter, and she keeps up, while I whine about all those scrawny girls(her included) w/ good knees - I can't keep up, but I try. It's more about mother-daughter bonding I guess, since she loves Jillian, when she ask me if I want to join her, I usually do. Thank goodness daughter's only a random exerciser now that it's summer. I much prefer the treadmill to workout videos, although I greatly admire Jillian.
    You are certainly very motivated!
