BDS Day 8 - Create Time and Energy

Monday, June 24, 2013

To make time and energy for dieting, Iím going to:
Create a new routine.

Free spirit that I think I am ... is still a creature of habit. I get up to my morning coffee. I have favorite tv programs, spending time on the internet. I love the idea of being spontaneous. But if I really look there is still a routine. (GASP!!!) Time to develop a new routine. This is a challenge I need to embrace. I need to devote time to a healthy lifestyle because I want to be as healthy as I can be.

"Once I accept the fact that dieting takes
time and energy and I change my schedule
accordingly, dieting will be easier."

Tons of inspiration came my way today from my Sparkfriends:
NEW_PARADIGM:
"We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us." --Joseph Campbell
PRAIRIECROCUS:
" Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek,
but a means by which we arrive at that goal."
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
JOHNMARTINMILES:
A great attitude does much more than turn on the lights in our worlds; it seems to magically connect us to all sorts of serendipitous opportunities that were somehow absent before the change.
~Earl Nightingale

Dr. Beck suggests:
~ Set your priorities.
~ Plan your meals ahead.
~ Ask for help, you can ask them to do some chores so you will have extra time doing something for your fitness.
~ Lessen TV / Internet time
~ Multi task - if you're doing the laundry, you can insert some fitness activity while the machine washes / spin dry your clothes.
~ Make fitness time one of your essential activities for the day.

~Todayís To-Do List~
I read my Advantages Response Card at least twice.
I read my other Response Cards as needed.
I ate slowly, sitting down and noticing every bite. (LOOK @ my food) (thanks 1CRAZYDOG)
Circle one: Every time (Most of the time) Some of the time
I gave myself credit when I engaged in helpful eating behaviors.
Circle one: Every time (Most of the time) Some of the time
I looked at the week ahead, scheduled (Healthy Lifestyle) dieting into my calendar, and
figured out how to eliminate or to cut back on some activities.
I delegated some tasks (if needed) to other family members or asked
a friend for help.

The Beck tools are tried and true. Many of us return to Beck for a tune up and refresher. It seems each time I dust off that book I learn something more, in a deeper way. I love your consistency Nancy. You inspire many of us with your commitment. Thank you

Good blog! and a good reminder for all us.

I am going to use Beck's on my cruise - no reason to just stop doing the right thing just because you're in a different environment!

Thanks for all of your recent blogs and keep up the good work.
