Hi folks! It's been a good time since I started Sparking again last week. I'm down about three pounds, and that's with going out with friends early in the week and going out to eat with my parents this weekend. My strategy is to eat mostly paleo/primal, which just means focusing on lots of veggies and good meats with smaller amounts of dairy, nuts, fruit, and the occasional drink. No sugar, low-ish carbs, lots of good fats...nutrient dense, sating, delicious!
I do wish I didn't have to track my foods, 'cause I get a bit crazy about it. I'm kind of an all-or-nothing, slightly obsessive personality, and tracking what I eat means I spend ALL FREAKING DAY worrying about what I'm going to eat. One of these months I'm going to get down to my maintenance weight and have to figure out how to stay there with less OCD effort. For now, though, tracking does seem to help the ol' waist line so you'll be seeing me around here a lot for the time being.
Last week I wrangled the craving binge-monster back under control so this week the focus will be on exercise. I really want to start running again but we're going through a heat wave, and 90 degrees with humidity is not really great for exercising outdoors. Instead I'll be dusting off my EA Sports Active 2 game and a set of resistance bands to get a good workout in the comfort of my air conditioned home. Well, I say game but it's more of an exercise video / personal trainer than a real game. But it's fun and effective, and costs me no extra money, so bring it on!
Right now I'm kicking week 2 off with a hearty breakfast of 2 eggs scrambled with chicken sausage, Santa Fe blend veggies, mango salsa, and some mozzarella cheese, with a side of delicious coffee (hold the sugar). If it's not raining I'll walk the two miles to work, and voila! We're off on another week of health.
Hope you all are having a fabulous Monday. Happy Sparking!
