Rt. 66 Progress

Monday, June 24, 2013

My stopping point today is right at the Polk-a-Dot drive in, in Braidwood, IL. So far I've walked about 57 miles on old Rt. 66. I need to start writing down my mileage everyday so I can keep better track of exactly how far I've come. It's great that I can track my route on Google maps. It make the walk that much more fun. A plus is that I can pull up a picture at many point along the route and look around at were I'm stopping. Now all I need to do is figure out a way to copy the picture so I can post it on my blog.

Awesome job hun and I totally agree, you need to keep track of that stuff so when you look back on it you can go "Wow! I did that!" The app that I use for my phone is runastic it should be purple with a shoe on it ( on my verizon phone) and its free! I will send you this information in a message as well just to make sure ya get it sense you were asking about my app. I totally love it as well as my bestie! It tracks your steps, hours.min.sec, mph, milage, calories and step frequance. (the calories and step frequance is for the pro edition and it was free on my phone but 4.99 on sarahs sprint) Plus it saves all your sessions if you chose to and you can put in how you felt during your walk, the terrain you walked over and the weather when you were walking. Let me know how you like it if you try it hun! emoticon

I drove Route 66 when I lived in Chicago...came home for my mom's 70th Birthday in Montana and then headed down to LA to see my best friend and came back to Chicago on Rte 66. What a great trip. Mailed postcards to all my friends from along the way...my all time fave is still the one from Winslow,AZ where I wrote

What a great idea to "walk" it. Good luck and enjoy your "trip"!! It will be worth it. I am still busy trying to figure out how my pedometer works and getting the hang of tracking my fitness and other goals and nutrition but may consider starting in LA and meeting you somewhere along the way starting in the next couple of weeks. I'll let you know if I figure out how to post the pics....but I'm sure someone will help you before I figure it out. It's such an amazing group and anytime I have put out a ???? have gotten at least 3 responses with the answers in my spark mail.
