PCOS & Metformin

Sunday, June 23, 2013

I was Dx with PCOS about a month ago and was put on metformin about 2 weeks ago before being placed on Metformin I was worried that I would not do well on it. I have been working on losing weight for many years now and today I have reached a mile stone for the past 6 years I could not get my weight back down under 266lbs and today with the help of metformin I am now 264lbs YAY! Metformin has been a big help with little to no side effects.

Good luck! While I did not like being on the Metformin, I was on it for 1 year and it really got my metabolism "back on track" and lost weight.

Off the Met now for 2 yrs. and have maintained my weight loss. It's lots of work, but worth it in the end, so hang in there.

HUGS and smiles.

    Hi There,

I`m on Metformin 3000mg/day and for an year I lost 12 kilograms. First 6 months I was on 1500mg and lost 6kg and then the doctor change it to 3000mg. Now they are putting new pills in as some of my hormones are very high.

Wish you luck on your journey.

Im not counting my carbs and up to today I have not stop drinking soda I have not really changed anything I have no idea how many carbs I eat I am and always have been a big soda drinker so its real hard for me to stop drinking them but I am working on it. It is my hope that once I am able to start changing my diet the weight will start falling off dont get me wrong I am happy with the weight loss I have but I know that it can be so much more with a few changes

Glad you aren't having any of the side effects. I was on it for a short time in combination with fertility drugs before getting pregnant with my second child. I didn't have too many issues with it, but I also watched my carb intake. As long as I didn't go over board on the carbs, I didn't have any issues. Go over on carbs? It let me know. :)

Your very lucky on the side effects. My Dr put me on it a few years back, and I have nothing but fits it really upsets my tum tum. I go through phases of taking it I know it will help me in the long run but the side effects make it not worth it some times. Good luck!! emoticon
