Calgary Update

Sunday, June 23, 2013

65,000 people can now return to their homes.

Schools closed Monday.

Downtown is closed until at least mid-week.

But we have turned a corner! Lots of volunteers are ready to help and donations streaming through Red Cross.

Sun has been shining for two days now.

Sounds good to me!

I can definitely relate to your problems. I went through Katrina and spent many an hour slogging through 'Katrina stew' trying to salvage some things from my parents' house. Believe me, though, it will continue to get better. And, the best help came from the Red Cross and church groups. They rocked!

Yes, thing have improved for Calgary but so many other areas around Calgary are still in crisis. About three communities around the town I live in are flooded and families are evacuated.

I am watching a news cast about the flood and the dreadful damage it has caused and
what I find awesome is the human spirit and how resilient it is when disaster strikes
every one pulls together. The clean up is going to be massive but it will be done.
