Sunday - gorgeous weekend - personal therapy continues

Sunday, June 23, 2013

Well last Wednesday I saw the surgeon for my 30 day check up, Officially on a cane now and he said while I'm in the house if I want to ditch the cane for small spaces that's fine too. Slowly building up the strength in my leg. He really wants me working on my flexibility as the strength will come naturally with time. He's very impressed with my progress - I get the impression this progress is not normal - but given it was on par with where I did last time - if not a tad ahead - its normal for me.

More frog exercises - where you lay on your back and put your feet together, knees up, and let your legs fall to the side. Then to add resistance go to your elbows and then your hands. I can do this one although of course I still feel a little tightness on the new hip but that will come.

The 2nd flexibility exercise is similar but sitting down, feet together, knees fall to the side and then bend to "try" to touch my toes. I get about to the ankle level now but that too will come.

I got the okay to go into the pool. Which I'm excited. Tomorrow is the plan so I'll be able to see all my swim friends again. Can't wait.

Tackled the grocery store - and have been taking walks up and down the street. Stamina is slowly increasing but when I crash I allow myself the naps as I don't want to overtire the muscles while I bring them back into shape.

Still taking tylenol for pain management although - I've been lucky this is primarily pre-emptive given all the exercising I'm doing. Glad I'm no longer on Iron or coumadin.

Today - another gorgeous day. Need an outfit as my DH celebrates 25 years with IBM so they have a luncheon planned for him. So off to JCP to see what I can find.

I'm glad you're recovering from your hip surgery is going so well. From watching my mom and a good friend go through rehab for replacements, I know that it is a lot of work.

Good luck with the rest of your rehab.
