WE CAN PRAY
When we have given into temptation, we often feel there was nothing else we could have done. We may have felt as if we were put into a situation where we had to give in. We may have felt as if our back was against the wall and we had no other choice. We may have felt that giving into the temptation was the only solution to our problems. However, there is one solution that will help us not to give into temptation no matter what the issue. That solution is prayer.
Luke 22:40 “There he told them, “Pray that you will not give in to temptation.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, we know that we will be tempted in life. The devil seems to find our weakest areas and tempts us in those areas. He will continue to tempt us until the day we die. You have told us, however, that we can pray and You will help us to resist temptation. You have told us, Lord, that we can resist the devil and quote Your word and he will flee from us. Help us to prepare for future temptations through praying and studying Your word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
When we think the only solution is to give into temptation, then we aren’t allowing God to work through us.
Sincere prayer can help us get through all things and can change our reactions when we are tempted.
God wants us to resist temptation. We can only do that when we have a sincere desire to do His will.
Knowing what God wants us to do and being determined to do it will help us to resist temptations.
We should not only pray that we don’t give into temptation but we should pray for others as well. Our job is to be sure we direct them toward God rather than follow them down the wrong path.
Galatians 6:1 “Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.” (NLT)
