Got a free weight bench and set of weights from a friend tonight, with a bar and everything. It's sitting rather intimidatingly in the basement. Not sure I'm up for big weights..at least not yet, and sure not going to be bench pressing heavy things without someone else around...but its kind of exciting too. At the very least I now own weight adjustable dumbbells for when I'm ready for them, and the bench will be handy for some exercises that involve leaning back or laying on mat where it works to lay on this instead.
I've got that New Rules of Lifting for Women, and figure there are some things in there one does with a bar bell, that I could do with just the bar itself ..which has some heft to it..till I have the form right and everything seems good, then slowly add weight to them. Don't want to fubar myself and got quite a few cranky parts I need to be patient with.
Saw that Z movie tonight, with the zombies and stuff, and though I suppose its pretty unlikely such a thing would happen, if any big disaster of any sort does happen, it would be rather handy to be able to lift heavy things, run, etc. Or at least not be the slowest one.
