Diet Sabotage

Saturday, June 22, 2013

I am fortunate to have the kind of friends who realize I am doing my best to lose
weight.

I have come to the conclusion that the only person to sabotage my weight loss efforts lives in my house. Since I am a widow, that would be me. I have also learned that if I bring it into the house I will eat it.

Controlling what I eat when I am out with friends is much easier. Well shucks and guess what? I am a secret saboteur. NO More however!!! I am doing my darndest to make sure that only good foods find their way into my shopping cart.

Therefore they are staying out of the House and don't get past my lips. Sure I have my lapses! Don't you? However,I also have a conscience. The only one I am cheating is me. Being no angel, I can only try harder. I'm game. Are you?

Secret Saboteur! That's a new one and sure does apply to me. Did you read Helen's recent post about getting contented with the status quo and then losing all control? I keep a stickie on my monitor which reads "I will NOT be CONTENT!" emoticon

When you go to the store make sure that you ate before you go and you will find it easier to buy healthy foods.

I understand. When I decided to buy plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and other healthy foods, I lost weight. I gradually went back to pastries and other sweet foods, my weight came back. I have decided not to let the sweets get in my house too often, but will have them occasionally.

I have to do that as well. If I don't bring it into the house It won't go in my mouth. Luckily I have a husband who is sensitive to a lot of additives and stuff, so he doesn't feel he is missing out.

I agree. I can be my worst enemy. If I see snacks or sweets I will eat it. My hubby and I are empty nesters so we try to avoid buying junk food. But yes, I will stray from my diet on occasion as well.
