Wk 115 Weigh In

Saturday, June 22, 2013

So Summer has finally arrived, according to the calendar. Here in central California we were in the high 90's a few weeks ago so I don't usually base what season it is on the calendar. We have strange weather sometimes, we went from high 90's a few weeks ago to high 70's for a week and we are now getting into the high 80's - low 90's. But shortly it will be high 90's to 100+ each and every day. :(

Anyway, I have had a so- so week. Had my friends funeral on Wednesday and there were close to 300 people in attendance, it was standing room only, literally. There were several motorcycle clubs in attendance, including a small group of Hells Angels. It was quite a diverse crowd to say the least.

Most of you that have known me for a while know what my diet protocol is. Sunday through Friday I try to be a choir boy... being as good as I can be. Saturday morning is my weekly weigh in and then my son and I go have lunch which usually consists of pizza and a pepsi. Saturday is my "free day" to have what I want to have without guilt. I have done things this way for over 2 years and it has worked for me. But this week was weird, statistically weird. After last week's weigh in of 210.0 I had my free day. On Sunday morning my weight was 213.8 (3.8 lb gain from free day activities), Monday morning my weight was 212.4, Tuesday morning I was 211.6. So each day I was getting closer to my Saturday weight and closer to going below that weight to post another loss this week.

That's when it got weird. My morning weight on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and again this morning were all 211.6! I weighed the exact same weight for 5 days straight! I ate different foods each day, my calorie count was different each day... it seems like a one in a million thing to have happen. I even moved my scale around all over the bathroom this morning, weighed myself probably 20 times, 211.6 each time!

So that's how my week went, very strangely. Let's take an official look at the numbers.

Weight : 211.6
Gain : 1.6
Total : 105.6

So yeah, I gained 1.6 lbs this week. I'm a little bummed about that but it's not going to ruin my weekend. I'm more astounded by the fact that I hit the same number 5 days in a row, yet I can't even win $5 when I play the lottery!!!

I hope you all have a great weekend! Sorry about all the rambling today :)

YES! I TOTALLY GET THIS! I don't know if I've had 5 in a row, but there have been times when it's been several days in a the point I question the accuracy of the scale. The more I think I know about this process, the more I realize I still have to learn.

Keep up the consistency and that 1.6 will be gone in no time...but you know that. Saw your ticker a little bit ago...holy cow...4 lbs to go! You must feel AMAZING!

Wish I could remember where I read about all the weird reasons why the body's weight fluctuates even within a day. It mentioned weather changes - like you mentioned, and even the pull of the moon - which is getting a lot of attention these days. Even now that I have a lot of weight to lose, I'm not weighing myself very often at all because I just have the goal of moving and feeling better for now. I feel a difference in clothes but I don't want the scale to be the only thing that matters. It just cannot be for me. As my mobility and food habits improve, I will still only weigh in once a week at the most. Don't apologize for "the rambling". The things you say can have an impact on you and others in great ways. :)

You have such a great sense of humor about the little curve balls the scale throws you!!

Ken once again, I love that sense of humor of yours. emoticon I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall watching you moving that scale all across the room weighing yourself. Oh well, you lose some, you gain some, It happens.

I don't want to see anymore 1.6 pounds weight gains for a loooooooooooong time. No seriously, you're doing a great job on this journey overall.

Bummer!!! I hate when that happens....when your body decides to find those extra calories and make it his. With me sometimes it is not extra calories, sometimes it is hidden sodium...I can gain 5 lbs in a single day and then not lose it for days. I must make sure I get enough potassium to counter the extra sodium.

I read that cool temps make your body burn calories...warm temperatures your body does not burn as many calories. I think that is true. Last winter in West Virginia I dropped seven pounds without dieting.... (Mom was in the hospital). When I came back to Texas I gained it all back and more.

If I could figure this all out I'd write a book and give it away for free....

You will succeed....... emoticon

So frustrating! emoticon You'll get rid of those pounds soon! The body is one strange machine! emoticon
I've learned to expect the unexpected when it comes to my body! I weigh myself once a month for that reason. emoticon I get discouraged too easily. emoticon

Sorry about your unexplained gain! I hate when that happens. But if you graphed your weigh ins, it would still be a downward trend! You've done amazingly well!

Isn't that frustrating when it happens? I've been the same weight now for 3 freaking weeks! I even changed the battery in the scale thinking something had to be wrong- no change.

Ha ha love your rambling :) I wish I could have seen you moving the scale around the room!!! Bodies are certainly weird things. You try and eat well and you go up and you 'pig out' and go down.

In the two months where I was stressed out I did everything as usual but lost a minimal amount. This week I ate cake--chocolate cake with chocolate frosting mmmm.... two 'massive pieces' on two occasions and lost .4 kg which is a lot for me lately!!!

go figure, our bodies have a mind of their own--shame it's like a cat's and won't listen or be bribed to behave!!!!

Have a great week anyway!!!!
