Pictures of myself

Saturday, June 22, 2013

I don't know about anyone else but I have always hated having my picture taken. I have always thought I was too fat or looked bad or looked old or any of the other negative things we tell ourselves about ourselves. Well, I went to visit my daughters over Mother's Day weekend and one of the nights that we were out the waitress took a picture of the 4 of us with my phone and as usual, I didn't look at it. Well, I did look at it yesterday and guess what? I looked good!
Why am I so hard on myself? I am getting better about this, but still have a long way to go. No one takes a great picture all the time and the great thing about camera phones is that you can just press delete.

Agreed. I avoid pictures also. But isn't it nice that you've seen this photo and like how you look. Be sure to get this one printed and framed. Enjoy!

You are absolutely correct - no one takes a good picture all the time. Truthfully, some people are just very photogenic and they always look great in photos, but there are other factors that play into how we look in photos.

I noticed something in a photo taken at a relative's cook out. I was sitting next to one of my cousins who is much heavier than I am, but she is not very endowed in the bosom - I am. I'm not saying this to be mean - but just to make a point: Her buttocks and thighs are seriously larger than mine, however, we were sitting at the backyard table in the photo and she looks much, much thinner than me because she is so small chested and all you can see in the photo is the top half of us. There you have it, proof positive, cameras can lie. emoticon I suppose the bottom line is that we are all trying to look like the size 4 that is the "standard" of beauty today. I stopped trying to be something I'm not cut out to be and have set a realistic goal for myself - a size 6-8 on my 5' frame is just fine. Since the camera puts 10 lbs. on us, I am not going to look like a cover girl, but then again, at my age, I'm not going to look like a "girl" no matter how thin I get. emoticon Keep up the good work, enjoy the photos that turn out good, and know that you are a beautiful person! emoticon

I think all of us are pretty much the same on this. Lots of times we DON'T look bad but to us, we do. emoticon

I don't like to get my picture taken either, but it's great to have the moment captured.
