Day 95 Check In...

Back to my regular check ins! Picked up DS and DD from camp today and the plan was to enjoy having everyone home again but....DD was so tired from camp, she was a big grump all day! Seems like we went from one melt down to another! Not a fun day!!! Hopefully, she will be back to herself tomorrow!

I finally decided on the kettlebell workout for my strength training. For the BLC, we are supposed to track strength training which I have never done before. I have only done cardio. After hearing a lot of positive feedback, I decided on the kettlebells, so I went to Target the other day and bought the KettleWorX 6 week body transformation system. I went with the 10 pound kettlebell after reading some views online.

I watched the introduction tonight and tried the sample workout. Whew! It is definitely going to be challenging! I was really sweating within minutes of starting! I am really excited though. I think it is definitely something that will challenge me and that I can grow into!

It also came with a food plan which I haven't had a chance to look into yet. If it strays too far from what I am doing now, I won't change anything. What I am doing now works and I don't want to mess that up.

Finally met one of my short term goals!!! I weigh less than DH!!!!! DH's weight fluctuates a lot more than mine, so I was waiting until I was consistently below him to count this as a goal met!

As I have been writing this, DS has been trying my new workout. He really likes it and wants me to get him the 20 pound kettlebell so he can do it with me! Yay! I'll have my workout partner back!

Planning to catch up on some much neglected house cleaning tomorrow that I haven't had time to do, so things should start looking better around here!

I don't always have a chance to get back to you individually to thank you, but I want you to know that appreciate each of you more than you could imagine! Now that school is out, I am hoping to have more time to spend with you guys!

    Okay, I guess I'm waaayyy late on commenting. Sorry, busy weekend. they usually are.

Boy are you close to 170's !!!! you must be getting excited !

I think strength training is essential. Especially to us that are 40 & over because every year we lose a percentage of muscle which slows our metabolism & makes for more frumpy bodies. Strength training is what shapes my figure.

One note, I use the 5lb. & 8 lb. I have a 10 & 15. I'm pretty strong for a girl, but proper form is important. I LOVE the results of the kettle bell w.o., but have pulled muscles with the lighter weights that's why I don't increase it yet.
Let me know if you like the workout series. I'm a w.o.dvd junky & like to mix up routines.

    I certainly LOVE LOVE LOVE kettlebells!!! It is the only thing I do! I have been using them for 4 years. I do not know that program you are using. I only follow and use material from RKC/SGF certified kettlebell instructors. I have 5 pairs of 15, 20, 25, 35, and 45lbs. My ultimate goal is to press the double 45lb's for reps, which I am working on. I reverse engineer my goals and pick a program to get me there and then cycle my program in waves. You can't keep pushing all the time, you have to deload as well. I do that with doing both single and double kettlebell workouts.

emoticon All the rest sounds great, Kettleball, new workout partner, chicks safely home, and the summer off! I'm sure Itty Bitty will be back to her sweet self as soon as she catches up on her sleep and loses some of the camp attitude.

emoticon Don't envy you the catch up cleaning, but it always feels so good to look around and see things neat, clean, and orderly...for the five minutes it seems to last! :)

    Wow Dachelle, I was impressed with your decision to go with Kettlebells and thought that 10 lbs is really good to start with. But I was floored when I read about your son. I see success written all over this development. I think this will be another huge success on top of the hula hoop program.

    Hey there, great blog. I am excited for your kettlebell workouts. I think you will love them. I do. They are hard sometimes though. Sorry about the grump, we have had some days like that and they are no fun.
emoticon Congrats on being below DH, that is so cool. I have never been above my DH, he is a big guy-not fat, just big-6'4" and tough. I have gotten really close to him though and that is not a good place for me.
